Unit D-3 at the Kona Reef is an absolutely oceanfront, newly-renovated, fully furnished, non-smoking, one bedroom condo with a complete kitchen. The lanai (patio) is located only 30 feet from the ocean. There is terrific tide pooling and exploring in the lava rocks. And if it's sand you want, you need to walk only a few hundred feet to the sandy park next to the condo complex (ocean swimming at the park is for experienced swimmers only.)
This fully furnished condo provides a wonderful place to just sit and relax. From your lanai, watch the surfers during the day and the sunsets at night. You'll also see jet boats, parasailing, and huge cruise ships. During the winter months. you may see whales passing by and it's not unusual to see schools of dolphins. Large turtles are permanent residents in the tide pool area and shoreline.
The Kona Reef is a low-rise oceanfront condo complex located close to the center of Kona. While away from the center of activity, it's an easy walk fom the condo, along the waterfront to shopping and restaurants. Fresh produce, flowers, and macademia nuts are available at the nearby farmers' market. The Kona Airport is about 7 miles away. Kahalu'u Beach Park, one of the best snorkeling areas in Hawaii, is just a few miles from the condo.
A large oceanfront pool, Jacuzzi, and chaise lounge area makes the Kona Reef a relaxing place to stay. Four gas-fired barbecues provide a great place to cook dinner, which you can eat at the tables and chairs in the barbecue area or take back to your private lanai.

activities and attractions in Kailua-Kona The Big Island
There are hundreds of things to do on the Big Island, every thing from scuba diving to snorkeling to shopping to whale watching trips. You can bike, hike, swim, kayak, fish, play golf, tennis or volleyball, or search the tide pools. The more adventuresome can surf, parasail, jet ski, and go diving with the manta rays. Some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world are on the Big Island (about 45 minutes north of Kona).
If you have the time, you'll want to plan a trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (about 2 1/2 hours from Kona.) If you're lucky, you may have a chance to see new lava erupting.
You also can travel throughout the rest of the Island to the old town of Hilo, the beautiful Waipi'o Valley, the cowboy country of Waimea and all the other wonderful places on this Island.
And, if you don't want to do anything but relax, spend the day at the Kona Reef sitting by the pool or hot tub, cooking something on the barbecue, or relaxing on your private lanai with a drink and a good book. From the lanai of unit D-3, you can watch the spectacular sunsets, the surfers, the parasailors, and the cruise ships.
vacation rental rates
Regular rates for this condo range from $165-222/night for 2 people. When you book through us (the owners), we give you a 10% discount. In addition, we are currently offering the following specials (choose the one that applies to the dates you're interested in):
- Stay November 4-9 or November 22-27 for $115.50 per night (a 30% discount from the regular $165/night rate).
- Stay anytime between December 8 and 19 for $115.50 per night. If you stay 7 nights or more, we'll give you a $50 gift certificate for Island Lava Java, offering the best coffee, pastries, and fresh foods in Kona. And it's located just 3 blocks from our condo!
- Book a stay for anytime between December 20 and January 3 and get the normal 10% off plus an additional 5%, bringing the regular $222/night rate down to $188.70/night. This 2 week period is the highest of the "high season" and Alaska Airlines' new direct flights to Kona (which start at the end of November) should pump quite a bit into Hawaii's economy and make it hard, as it's been in the past, to find a great condo during Christmas/winter vacation.
The fine print -- The rates above do not include 12.25% Hawaii tax or the
$98.95 check-out cleaning fee. They assume double occupancy; an additional
$10/night charge is made for more than 2 people. The minimum stay is 3
nights and the maximum number that can stay in our condo is 4 people.
