The Setting

It's tough to beat the serenity and seclusion of this magnificant mountain property we have come to call Elk Hollow Retreat. This 2,500 square foot custom home sits on 17.5 acres with mesmerzing meadow and alpine ridge views that allow for abundant wildlife viewing and incredible star gazing. We are visited every spring by hundreds of migrating elk that enjoy grazing in the pastures and are frequently visited by deer, wild turkey and red tail hawks.

The Location

Elk Hollow Retreat is located approximately 12 miles east of the beautiful and historic mountain town of Durango, CO. The retreat is 10 minutes away from Lemon Lake, 20 minutes away from Vallecito Lake and approximately 50 minutes away from Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort. 

The House

A stone fireplace, cathedral ceiling, and panoramic windows anchor the spacious and cozy great room and will probably be where you spend most of your time (that is, when you’re not outside exploring or enjoying the wrap-around deck). Next to the gas fireplace is an entertainment center. This flows into the modern, fully stocked kitchen, breakfast bar, and dining table. There is plenty of room to accommodate large gatherings.

The peaceful master bedroom suite is located on the main floor adjacent to the great room and kitchen. This room features a 42” plasma HDTV, a whirlpool tub in the master bath, and access to the deck.

Two more bedrooms are on the second floor. Each room has picture windows and its own bathroom. The first guest bedroom features a queen bed and the bathroom has a tub/shower. The second guest bedroom is perfect for kids! It is equipped with two sets of bunk beds and can sleep five to six people comfortably. There is a shower in this bathroom. Rollaway beds and port-a-cribs are available upon request.

The loft area separates the bedrooms and has a sleeper-sofa and large TV/DVD/SAT entertainment center.

Just off the southwest side of the deck is a lovely flower and vegetable garden and we encourage our guests to pick the vegetables at their leisure.

EHR is pet friendly with a large dog run and 1 acre fenced yard off the North side of the house.

EHR is SMOKE FREE!
