Colorful Cottage - BRAND NEW FOR 2009 in Silver Lake

Come and stay in our 1 year old vacation home!  

Located in the popular Floradale Association, this 2-story, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is well suited for single family or multi-family use.  Completed in April 2009, Colorful Cottage was built by owner Tom Montsma (Tom Montsma Builders, Inc.).  It has been constructed with high quality materials and with the expertise gained with over 20 yrs of experience building hundreds of homes of all sizes.

Colorful Cottage has been designed and furnished to optimize the renters experience, not the bottom line.  The result is lots of extras to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible.  Our goal is to pamper you!! 

We have another vacation home just down the street built with the same quality and care ... Cozy Cottage (listing 3557).  Completed May 2008.

While the summer months are especially beautiful and full of activity, Colorful Cottage is available for rent year round. Consider spending a long weekend or your off-season vacation enjoying the spectacular fall colors, skiing, snowmobiling, or simply relaxing by the fireplace with a great book.

Colorful Cottage lives up to its name as it cheerfully decorated with great colors and comfortable furnishings.  Built to sleep up to 13, this cottage is in a GREAT location:

•  1/2 mi from the shared beach on Silver Lake and 1/4 mi from the assoc. clubhouse, pool/tennis courts, etc.
•  less than 2 miles from the historic Little Point Sable lighthouse (tours available), and incredible Lake Michigan beaches
•  about 1 mile from ice cream, Craig's Cruisers, miniture golf, a bakery, gift shops, restaurants, the Park Store (small grocery store that also sells firewood), a gas station (also various supplies and some groceries) and Mac Woods Dune Rides.
• many rental options available: watercraft, dune vehicles, bikes, mopeds, etc.

Go a little further away and find fresh fruit/veg stands and public access to the dunes where you can climb the dunes or sit and watch the dune buggies navigate the sandy hills. From the top of the dunes you will have a breathtaking view of Silver Lake and Lake Michigan at the same time. Sunsets from there are absolutely spectacular!!

Nearby spots within 15 - 20 min travel by car include:

Access points to the beautiful 25mi long Hart - Montague paved bike trail, Pentwater Lake and its charming downtown, Hart, Shelby, Stony Lake, golfing, horseback riding and the Silver Lake Sand Dragway. 

20 - 45 min by car gets you to: 

Muskegon (lots of shopping!), Ludington, and Michigan Adventure Amusement and Water Park.

Silver Lake is a great lake for kids. It has a sandy bottom and stays shallow for quite a ways on the Floradale Assoc. beach side of the lake. On the dunes side, the bottom drops off sharply which allows for easy access by boat and great swimming right next to the shore.

Silver Lake water conditions can range from completely still to white caps.  This allows for many activities: fishing, sailing, boating, skiing, windsurfing, swimming, tubing, etc.

Please, no smoking or pets...

One last note:

In addition, we have a property on the Lake (not part of Floradale Assoc) that we rent on a limited basis.  This property was completely remodeled in the summer of 2007, sleeps 11, is fully equipped, and rents for $2,000/wk plus 6% Use Tax.

Upstairs bedroom #2 has a tv/dvd combo.

•  sectional with recliners on each end
•  additional seating, etc...

Dining area:

• Dining room table that can seat 8 - 10.

Colorful Cottage's outside features include:

Covered front porch and covered rear deck. The rear deck is furnished. There is a patio (uncovered) in the front yard with furniture.  The lawn is thick and lush and is kept that way with underground sprinkling.

Although Colorful Cottage is 1/2 mi from the Floradale beach, it is located in the most private part of the Association.  It sits on the far side of a corner lot so there is a large stretch of yard between the cottage and the corner.  On the other side of the cottage is a vacant lot.  The view from the back is mostly trees.  There is plenty of parking for cars, trailers, etc.

Silver Lake has been a part of our lives for over 30 years. It is a wonderful place to stay and make family memories.
