vacation rental description

This beautiful privately owned home in a small island neighborhood is perfect for couples, honeymoons, families, reunions or a girlfriend getaway.  It is lavishly furnished in bright tropical hues with a Key West feel and faces northwest to experience gorgeous sunsets. The deck is brand new and spacious, equipped with a grill for barbequeing, a sparkling pool, plenty of comfy patio furniture for sunbathing, relaxing or just enjoying the view.   Enjoy Al fresco dining or a cool drink in your beautiful private waterfront backyard where you have dolphins, manatee, and even a bald eagle as your neighbor!  You can fish right out your back door, or pick up something to grill from one of several fresh fish markets.

This 3 Bedroom 3 Bath home with a loft is located in Tarpon Springs, one of the  best-kept cultural secrets in Florida.  It is one of the largest Greek communities outside of Greece and listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Its yearly calendar is filled with Greek festivals, street dancing, music and events.  Just a few minutes by boat will take you to the beautiful open water of the Gulf of Mexico, where you may visit Anclote Key and its famous lighthouse immortalized by singer Bertie Higgins!  Here you can hike, snorkle, collect shells, visit the lighthouse or just relax on an island maintained in its pristine and natural condition.  Other beaches in the area are the equally lovely Honeymoon Island, and Caledesi Island State Park, which is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S.

With plenty of windows in the house and two kayaks for guest use, you will enjoy to the fullest what you came to Florida to do--enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures, which are year round.  Take out a kayak and explore one of the many uninhabitied islands that dot the river where you may see herons, egrets, eagles, osprey, manatee, tarpon, dolphins, sting ray, the elusive rosette spoonbill, and much more all in their protected habitats.  Sunset Beach, known for its sunset concerts, and Fred Howard Park Beach with wonderful picnic facilities, wind surfing and playground are both just a short drive away, as well as the world renown Innisbrook Golf Courses.  Tarpon Springs even has its own picturesque course where you can warm up!

Please note there is no safety fence around the pool area, and no fence around the home where it backs up to the water.  Therefore, the property may not be suitable for small children and nonswimmers.

The home is located in a quiet, private island neighborhood in Tarpon Springs, approximately 25 minutes from the Suncoast Parkway, approximately 40 minutes from highway 75. St. Petersburg/Clearwater is about 30 minutes south and Tampa is about 40 minutes east.  Orlando and the Disney vacation land is just a quick 1 1/2 hours east.

traveler reviews for this tarpon springs house rental

a home away from home

susan (west hartford, ct USA)
Review submitted: January 4, 2011   Date of arrival: December 21, 2010

Beautiful home, with wi-fi, large TV, books, magazines, local grocery and CVS cards ready for use, restaurant and take out menus, maps, dishes, baking pans, supplies in pantry, fluffy towels, large grill, nice patio, washing machine, bicycles, etc. and personal attention from the owner. Greeted with a bottle of wine, Met again when he made an early morning trip over to put extra air in the bicycle tires. Good location for people in the Tarpon Springs Tampa area. Spotless, with lots of little touches to make the renter feel right at home.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Thank you for sharing your home!

Review submitted: February 28, 2010   Date of arrival: September 3, 2009

We have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent here. Being able to relax and let the kids play in the pol, and being able to fish in the canal, and board our boat right at the house was great. We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary while here. The location of the house was ideal being only minutes from my brother and his family. We are considering a move to Tarpon Springs! The house is lovely and gave us all plenty of room. We had a great family vacation with everyone being together. We hope to share your home again when we come back to Tarpon Springs!
