My husband and I, along with our 2 dachshunds stayed at Casa Layne the week before Christmas. It was our present to ourselves this year. It was our first visit to San Felipe. We were so happy we chose Casa Layne to stay in. As other reviewers before have stated: The home is gorgeous. It had everything one needs to live very comfortably. We knew to bring our own food and we're glad we did because the local stores have a very limited and rather expensive selection of food. We loved the little restaurant just outside of the Playa de Oro security gate. It is for gringos, but that was fine by us. Even our waitress was a gringa. However, we did enjoy some wonderful local seafood at the Malecon (boardwalk) in town.
It was chilly for our stay there. We asked the property manager, Sabina, if there was heat. She said no, but the house was so well insulated that we never felt cold. There was plenty of everything as far as blankets, pillows, towels, dishes, pots and pans etc. I can think of nothing I wished for in the way of household amenities.
Thanks Connie. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing vacation.

perfect vacation!

Hi husband and I, along with our two dogs-Niko and Skruff, had the pleasure of staying at Casa Layne for 8 days. We had a fabulous time!! Where do I start, the house itself is super comfortable; I found the kitchen better than most other houses we have stayed at, with more than enough pots, pans, and cookware. Plan on bringing your own spices and oils, we came prepared so this was not an issue. There is an electric stove-oven that worked great and a charcoil BBQ on the back patio. There is filtered water for drinking. There is no dishwasher which was stated in other reviews, but honestly...it was not difficult to handwash our dishes...so I would hope that wouldn't put a damper on anyone's vacation :) The master shower is massive! We enjoyed the fenced yard with our dogs. There is a laundromat on site-super convenient which also has a little library of books, take one leave one style. There is also a deli, which was opened the weekend we left for the season, so unfortunately we did not get to try out. Rancho Market is right up the street from Playa de Oro and has just about everything you would need, and the staff are awesome. They have a great deli there with plenty of lunch options along with meats to grill. The beach access is a short walk from the house itself. We actually found the low tides great, many small pools to walk through, and even in late october, the ocean was a comfortable tempature for swimming. The pool on site was nice, a great added amenity. Rumors bar and grill on site was awesome...the food is very good and there is almost nightly entertainment; we had a great laugh with the bartender!! we enjoyed the karoake on saturday nights with all the locals! The Malecon is approx 6km from the community, a very quick drive. We did a day of sea fishing with Danny and Jorge's boats and caught a ridiculous number of fish in 5 hours-I would recommend other visitors a day of fishing off the Malecon.
If you plan on staying at Playa de Oro expect super friendly staff and neighbors, also try local spots such as Pete's Camp's outdoor bar and Jolly Mon bar and grill which also has live music. We met alot of people in all these places who gave us recommendations on tours and places to pick up supplies. Oh, and can't forget to mention the Shrimp Festival which occurs every year; it was so much fun! We look forward to staying at Casa Layne in the near future; thanks so much Connie for sharing such a special place with us!!

Lovely Home

Beautiful home in a secure gated commuity. Tile floors, TV's and comfortable furniture. Very nice rooftop deck. All appliances worked. Lots of room and well maintained. Well stocked with towels and blankets/pillows. Bring your own spices, paper products and bath soaps. Down side is the flies and no dishwasher or access to washing machines. It is also very near beach but not really beachfront. If you are heading to San Felipe, this is the house to rent!!
