vacation rental description

Is it: A-Frame of "Mine" or a frame of "Mind"

If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing, summer vacation rental on a tranquil lakefront setting in the Sebago Lakes region of southwestern Maine, consider the rental of our very secluded A-Frame-style cottage. It's situated in a cove on the western shore of Crescent Lake in Raymond, Maine -- and is available year-round. For the downhill skier, Shawnee Peak is just 25 miles away, while Sunday River is just 53 miles away. Cross-country skiing is available all around, as are snowmobile trails. This two-bedroom-plus-loft/one-bath home is just three-eights of a mile from the main road (RT-85), along with only three other private homes. It's a fantastic location for couples or families with small children to reconnect. On the first floor of this modern, four-season cottage there is a small but fully functional kitchen, an enclosed sleeping porch, a large deck overlooking the lake, a living room/dining area, and a full bathroom. The second floor has 2 BR, plus a 3rd Floor sleeping loft for 2. There is a sleep sofa in the Living room and a sleeping bunk bed on the enclosed porch.

The A-Frame has under gone major renovations in the spring of 2010 and 2011. The roof is new, the deck and railing is all new, all the windows have been replaced with double hung windows for better ventilation and viewing out. The Loft has all new pine paneling. The bunk beds in the loft have been replaced with larger twin beds. New wall to wall carpeting in the first floor, second floor and the Loft.Best of all we remodeled the bathroom. The tub and shower are all new.

We have added a bunk bed on the side sleeping porch and have received many kudos from the kids. The whole A-frame has been resided and painted.

Our A-frame is located on Crescent Lake, Raymond, ME. 04071. This is the 'Sebago Lakes Region' of Southwestern Maine. Maine is known as the 'Vacation Land' for good reason. Our cottage sits on the western shoreline in a secluded cove with only 3 other cottages on the 3/8 mile road, Kossow Lane. People find our rental to be most secluded, relaxing, serene and just great for small families to reconnect with each other. Sit outside at evening by the fireplace (wood provided), listen to the loons and cook marshmallows. There are many outside activities and we supply a listing of all that there is to do.

We provide a metal canoe, a sunfish sailboat and 2 ride on kayaks. We also have a 12 ft and 14 ft boat and motor to rent at reasonable rates.

Crescent Lake lies in the Towns of Raymond and Casco, Maine. It is 4 miles long and 2/3 mile wide at its widest point. The maximum depth is 54 feet and fishing is good year round. Crescent Lake is a good size for moderate boating and is relatively quiet. Crescent Lake connects to Panther Lake which then feeds into Sebago. The Tenny River links Crescent Lake and Panther and is navigable.

Wonderful Vacation

Mr. & Mrs. P (Buckland, MA)
Review submitted: August 18, 2010   Date of arrival: August 7, 2010

Our family had a wonderful time at the A-Frame. The A-Frame was clean, we were very pleased with the outdoor deck. It was large and the view from the deck was incredible. The sunrise was fabulous. I have wonderful pictures to enjoy for years. My husband, myself and our 3 sons, plus 2 girlfriends enjoyed our stay. We went swimming and boating. We loved having fires in the firepit and just sitting around talking and laughing. The weather was beautiful. There were plenty blankets, pillows and beds. The bunk beds on the porch were a hit with the boys. The A-frame was well stocked and I can't think of anything that the owners failed to think of for supplies, etc. The owner made us feel very welcome and was there when we arrived and also there the day we departed asking if there was anything they could improve on. I could not think of anything. What a wonder, peaceful location. We would definitely recommend the A-frame to our friends and family.

Nancy and Deke -

Thanks again for another great stay at the a-frame! We couldn't have asked for better weather and love the new additions to the house. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, beautiful sunrises, and the full moon coming up over the lake. Went out fishing every night in the motor boat and enjoyed a campfire on our return. Looking forward to 17th summer at the a-frame!

Maine Vacation

Dawn W (Oley, Pennsylvania)
Review submitted: July 13, 2010   Date of arrival: July 3, 2010

Our family of 6 decided to visit a Maine lake this year in lieu of Lake George, NY for something different. After reading all the reviews, we were certain this was the spot for us and after experiencing it for ourselves we were NOT disappointed.

We had a fabulous time and the A-frame was the perfect size for us. Considering we visited Maine during a heat wave and had extreme temperatures of 95 and above with little relief in the evening, but we placed fans in front of the windows upstairs to bring cool air in prior to bedtime and they worked out just fine.

We have two teenagers, a 7 and a 5 year old that loved the lake. They swam, kayaked, and canoed each day and could not get enough. We are not a big fishing family, so I cannot comment on the fishing aspect of the trip, but the floating dock was the highlight of their trip. Jumping and swimming off of the dock was the best part of their trip.

We also took many trips around the area to get the most out of Maine since we are from Pennsylvania. We went gem hunting in West Paris, which we absolutely loved. We saw the Snow Falls Gorge and visited Portland as well since it was within driving distance for us. We went to one waterpark in Saco (Aquaboggan) which the kids enjoyed and we still had time to sit by the campfire when we returned. .

We visited Wyndham and had one or two nice dinners out to enjoy the Maine cuisine, but mostly the kitchen had plenty of room for our normal family cookouts that we enjoyed each night.

Overall, we had a great time. We travel often along the entire east coast, and we would definitely stay here again if we decided to travel to Maine again.

In addition, the owners met us upon arrival and departure and we were impressed that they travel up from MA to do so for each of their tenants, it was a very personal touch to our vacation. I had a few questions before and during our stay and they were always very attentive and efficient with getting us anything we needed.

We enjoyed the opportunity to visit at a very reasonable and affordable price! Thanks
