vacation rental description

The Hamakua Hideaway is located forty miles north of Hilo, then eight more miles out of Honokaa along the Hamakua Coast to the tiny town of Kukuihaele.  It is a ten minute walk to the Waipio Valley Lookout.  This location provides a great central 'going-out' point to visit most of the rest of the island from, together with a great country setting to 'come home to,' with views so awesome that Costco used them to showcase travel to the entire state of Hawaii.  Honokaa is a charming town that still features false-front western-style buildings and has all the amenities.  The Treehouse is adjacent to two huge mango trees, on the second floor above my stored 57 Corvette, is VERY private, with views of Mother Nature at her best...40 miles of 900' cliffs, waterfalls, the far wall of Waipio Valley and the island of Maui beyond the northernmost tip of the Big Island.  It has been in operation for nearly fourteen years now, and has provided fantastic memories for hundreds of visitors who want a taste of Hawaii the way it used to be.

studio rental amenities

The Treehouse Suite has a comfortable king-sized bed facing the corner view windows, where a table and two chairs reside.  There are two rataan reading chairs, a tv, dvd player with Hawaii-themed dvds, dish network programming, dc player with Hawaiian music, dsl computer RJ-45 hookup, a jacouzi bathtub that 'can' seat two with a view down to the 100 year-old taro patches and night sky, and most kitchen amenities which share the amazing views as well.  A separate bathroom is for guests only and there is a large back yard expanse for sunning/reading, etc.  A small deck is in the plans.  A dedicated covered parking place is provided as well.

activities and attractions in Waipio Valley The Big Island

Waipio Valley provides opportunities for horseback riding, van tours, great hiking, surfing, and ATV riding on the rim above the valley.  There are two art galleries in the town (that's it!!) and Honokaa offers great shopping, a small nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, a pool, and a great original movie theater.  Hilo is an hours drive to the south, with several botanical garden tours and waterfall hikes along the way.  The Volcano National Park is another 45 minutes beyond Hilo, with great hiking and unforgettable eruption opportunities.  Waimea is a half hour west as the center of Parker Ranch, with an 18 hole golf course, and a drive up to the visitors center on 14000' Mauna Kea 45 minutes away.  North Kohala has great hiking, a quaint town and wonderful whale viewing in season.  The main beaches for the entire island lie 50 minutes away to the west and Kailua-Kona another 1/2 hour beyond that.  My guest books are full of comments describing wonderful adventures and if you love nature, the Big Island is the place to go.

vacation rental rates

I've recently lowered my rates in response to 'the difficult financial situation,' and have kept them at around half the rates of the other 3-4 rentals in the Waipio area so that 'people like myself' can have a chance to experience the beauty of this area.  As I teach full time, I can afford to do that, so I do.  There is an additional 11% tax applied to all rates.  A 50% deposit is required and is unrefundable if I am not notified more then one month prior to the booking dates.
