The Quarry House is built on the bed of a quarry. The attached Carriage House is an 1100 sq ft luxury accommodation in a second floor setting with private entrance.  The main house is owner occupied.  In the Carriage House, there is a master bedroom with a king size bed, gas fireplace and patio doors offering a beautiful wakeup view into the woods.  The bath has a walk-in shower, air jet tub, vessel sink with vanity and a wooded view.  It is accessible from the master bedroom and the main living area.  There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the great room. A rollaway twin bed is also available. Full kitchen with cooktop, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.  Unit has air-conditioning.  A second bedroom suite is also available in the main house and has it's own entrance.  This features a queen size bed and a trundle bed.  Private bath with a walk-in shower.  This second bedroom can be rented seperately or in conjunction with the Carriage House. The Quarry House has been featured in Door County Living Magazine and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel At Home section. Also offered are a gas grill on a covered patio, campfire and private outdoor covered balcony.  Linens and bath towels are provided.  Interior is smoke free.  The Carriage House has satellite TV, VCR and DVD with hundreds of movies.  It also has a library of books.

Great hosts and awesome accommodations

Mitch and Mary may be the nicest hosts my wife and I have had during our many trips away from home. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We stayed in the guest house with our dog Millie, and we all had ample space to stretch out. The guest house has all of the accommodations of home; everything is modern and tasteful. The Quarry House is an amazing place; built by Mitch and friends into the side of an actual quarry. The place is both amazing and beautiful. We look forward to a return trip soon!

Recommended for: pet-friendly, sight seeing

Owners response: Sometimes I think we have as much fun with our guests as they do coming here. We enjoy sharing our house with guests and making their stay memorable.

"I stayed at QUARRY HOUSE for 2 nights in October 09 and was delighted with the experience. I opted for the In-house Guest Bedroom (big enough for 2 adults & a child) w/semi-private walk-in shower on the 2nd floor of the main house. An entire suite is also available in a semi-attached carriage house. The guestroom I stayed in was lofted above the Great Room, which gave a very airy, open feeling, esp. when the double doors were open. The opposite wall opened onto a small balcony-like enclosure overlooking the outdoor patio, recessed between the main & carriage house(perfect for relaxing with a drink/cigar in the cool of the evening).

Fees are quite reasonable considering the high quality of the accommodations. One rental option includes full run of the kitchen and expansive den. The semi-attached "Carriage House" suite (w/full kitchen, gas fireplace, & jet-bath) affords more privacy, w/2 night minimum.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Furnishings are tastefully country-rustic, with some nice extra touches (a rocking chair, selection of recent novels & video games, etc.) & amply suited my needs. The property is less than 10 years old and very well cared-for, both in appearance and function.

QUARRY HOUSE is, itself, something of a marvel. Designed by "Quarry-Meister" Mitch, it was built within a SCENIC old limestone quarry that Mitch has carefully re-landscaped to accent its Rugged Naturalism. Visitors will appreciate the house's interior details, including unique architectural stonework that incorporates the native rock substratum (esp. the Great Room in the main house...truly impressive).
NOTE: Guests are permitted to wander in the surrounding quarry, but asked not to climb on the tumbled boulders (for obvious safety reasons). The entire property backs onto a LARGE marvelous wooded area, thru which a gang of wild turkeys trotted one memorable frosty morning. At night, the stars in the pitch black sky are spectacular, not the pathetic handful of fitful "tea lights" you sometimes glimpse from the city. A great spot for astronomy buffs, or anyone else curious to see what a night sky OUGHT to look like!

This one is very easy to find and also very convenient, being just a stone's throw from Egg Harbor and other points of interest in the "Core of the Door."
