vacation rental description

Truly special property that makes the most of an ideal location and
allows you to feel like you are on vacation the moment you arrive.
It is located on wide and quiet cove and is the prime location on
Lake Lure to take in panoramic views of the mountains, Chimney Rock,
Hickory Nut Gorge, and especially for viewing beautiful sunsets
across the lake.  Our new Premier 18 foot pontoon boat is also included with the rental and it is a great way to tour the lake, go to lunch, go fishing, go swimming and enjoy the lake to the fullest.

The no-wake cove allows for protected swimming while being moments
away from the main channel in the pontoon boat that is included with
the home.

We added a boat house in 2010 that includes a large raised deck 15 ft off the water to create fantastic place to relax down by the lake, watch family and friends swim and play in the water as well as watch sunset.  This will also provide shade down at the lake throughout the day to maximize comfort for everyone who is spending the day down 'on the water'. We have also added free high speed wifi and free local and long distance calling(US only).

Also, road access to the cove is ideal with a private road that is less than half mile off of Highway 74 allowing you to avoid the many twists and turns required to reach some areas of Lake Lure -and only 5 minutes from the new full scale Ingles grocery store.

The structure of this home has been designed to make the most of
this ideal location. It has the feel of a mountain home with its
peaked roof and cedar exterior. It is surrounded by century old
trees proving shade, privacy, and the feeling of being in a mountain
retreat. Situated at the top of the hill overlooking the lake allows
for easy access when unloading or loading the car while making the
most of the amazing views.

You enter the main room to vaulted ceilings of rich wood that
provide an open and airy feeling. There is a beautiful fieldstone
fireplace which provides a cozy atmosphere in the summer and
especially in the fall/winter while further adding to the mountain
retreat atmosphere.

The center piece of the home is the two plus stories of windows that
provide expansive views of the lake and the mountains. The open
floorplan allows guests to sit and talk, work in the kitchen and eat
dinner - all while taking in the spectacular views.
The main floor has a private bedroom with a queen bed and a full
bathroom for those who want to limit climbing of stairs. The
upstairs has a private bedroom with a queen bed and a private half
bath. The bedroom connects to a loft which overlooks the main room
and has full view of the floor to ceiling windows and fireplace. Sky
lights also add to a feeling that you are living in the trees. The
loft is semi-private and has a trundle bed (two twin beds).
The lower floor is a huge master suite which includes a sitting area
and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that also look out over the
lake - the room is over 400 square feet! It has a king bed and one
trundle bed (two twin beds) as well as a sitting area for enjoying
the morning sunlight or lounging in the afternoon. The lower bedroom
also has a full bath. If you choose for this to be a "kids room," it
has a TV and plenty of space to play games and etc. allowing parents to quietly enjoy the
view upstairs. The
downstairs opens out onto a covered deck with adirondack and rocking
chairs for lounging in the shade. If you choose to use this room as
an adult room, it is a great place to cool down and relax in
private.

Not only does the inside of the house make the most of the location,
so does the outside. There are two huge decks extending out to the
lake. The upper deck extends off the main level and is perfect for
barbecuing (there is a gas grill) and enjoying dinner outside. The
lower deck extends off the master suite/kids room and is a perfect
place to enjoy some shade and quietly read a book in the afternoon.
Both provide an amazing view of the lake and the mountains.
When you are ready to venture away from the house and enjoy the
lake, you are steps away from paradise. The spacious dock and boathouse with deck (new in 2010)has a 180 degree view like few others on the lake. You can take in the view while sitting on the dock or go for a swim in the
protected no-wake cove. Sunset from the dock is something not to be
missed! When you desire even more adventure, we have a 22 foot
pontoon boat included with the rental of the house! The boat
comfortably seats 7-8 allowing the whole family a chance to fully
enjoy the lake. Two kayaks are also available down at the boat house to enjoy the lake.

As the location and home provide a feeling of immediately being on
vacation, we want our service to as well. Therefore, we have worked
to provide every convenience necessary. Your first experience of
this will be when our caretaker, Debbie, greets you at the door to
give you a tour of the house and demonstrate how to use the boat.
You will then find a full kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator,
microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and plenty of dishes and utensils
for cooking and eating. For entertainment, there are two TVs, two
DVD/VCR players and plenty of games for adults and kids. In
addition, there is a washer and dryer in a large laundry room to
help keep packing to a minimum.

When you are ready to head outside, you will find numerous chairs
for lounging and tables for outdoor dining. For the lake, there are
toys for swimming and plenty of beach towels. The boat includes 1
tank of gas on us to get you started and all the life vests required
for a safe holiday. If you are interested in the local area, we have
provided brochures and ideas for things to do in the surrounding
areas, lists of restaurants, stores and other information.

Finally, when you have enjoyed your day to the utmost, you will find
fully made beds with down comforters ready for you to fall into and
enjoy a peaceful nights sleep listening to the sounds of the lake
and the forest.

Awesome Trip with Beautiful Views

Review submitted: October 17, 2013   Date of arrival: October 11, 2013

My husband and I needed a weekend getaway when he came home from being in Afghanistan for a year and this seemed like the perfect getaway for the two of us. Well I was right, from the time I contacted Tim the owner about renting the property until the time we left everything went smooth. Tim was quick to reply to my email to rent his home and he answered all of my questions. When we arrived to the house Debbie the caretaker was there waiting to greet us, she was very nice and told us about the area and places we could go to eat or shop and she told us about the house. She really made us feel at home! As far as how the weekend stay went we had a great time. The house was clean and very cozy with plenty of room for a large family. The views of the lake and the mountains were beautiful right from the deck of the house. The stairs to the dock were a little challenging but totally doable, We didn't feel so bad eating junk food after walking up and down the stairs! It was great being able to travel around the lake in the pontoon boat that is included in the rental, we found lots of little coves that are great for fishing, we caught small mouth bass and yellow perch. The view from the boat was amazing, once you get to the middle of the lake you are surrounded by mountain views we got plenty of great pictures. Everything about this stay was perfect and we look forward to returning to this house for future family vacations. You will not be disappointed with this vacation rental!
