Located on a nearly deserted, tropical island,
CHATEAU LE MER
will captivate you with its fabulous ocean views, luxurious
furnishings, stained glass windows and lamps, private sun deck, and
spectacular sunsets. This nearly new, beach front home
features 3 bedrooms (each with queen size beds), all with direct
ocean views, 2 full baths with exotic European tile and full kitchen
ammenities including water purification system, trash compactor,
dishwasher, and microwave. Rental includes clean linens and towels,
dishes and utensils, and a free dock slip for your boat. A water
taxi also services the island. While Little Gasparilla Island is
known for its seclusion, privacy, beautiful white sandy beaches,
fantastic shelling and world class tarpon, redfish, and snook fishing
(charters nearby), there are many other activities nearby.
Snorkeling, nature walks, bird watching, 8 championship golf courses
within 10 minutes, kayak rentals, canoe rentals, golf cart rentals,
jet ski and wave runner rentals, and boat rentals are all available
either on the island or at one of the many nearby marinas. More info

This was the first vacation we had to the island, and we hope that it will not be the last!! As far as location, there is none better, in our (family members)opinion! As far as Chateau Le Mer, there is none better, in our opinion! The home was lovely. We found everything in working order, it was clean and tidy, and well equiped in case you found that you had forgotten something. The owners were very helpful! When I called with questions, they were always propmt in their response. They have rules that need to be followed, but this isn't anything you wouldn't ask of your own family, in your own home. If you need to relax and just get away from the hustle and bustle, I would highly recomend that you try staying at the Chateau Le Mer! The beach is out of this world, and the shelling to die for! We got to watch dolphins play from the deck and when snorkling out front of the house, were joined by manitees. When you go and stay at the Chateau Le Mer, I hope you will have the lovely sunsets that we did on our vacation. The whole week was thrilling and My entire family can not wait to return! * SIDE NOTE: The owner of the Water Taxi service "Prirate Taxi" was WONDERFUL, and very helpful also!!! So Go and Enjoy!!!

Needs some TLC

Just some information to pass on about this rental. The situation with the sliding doors is bad. One that does work is so difficult to open. You almost hurt yourself trying to open it. In fact, I had to open the door for my husband who had shoulder surgery 3 months ago….he couldn’t get it open. The other slider doesn't work at all and they have a spoon shoved in the track to keep it "locked". In fact the door stays open about 1 inch and you can't budge it to save your life! The broiler in the oven does not work. The trash compactor does not work. The front stairs with all the overgrown weeds/grass is less than convenient. You cannot even access the front stairs. The golf cart is an accident waiting to happen. There are NO brakes at all and the roof rigging is constantly coming apart, being held together with bungy cords with jagged edges exposed. Also the television in the living room is so difficult to operate. The instructions on the house booklet does not accurately instruct you on how to use the system. It took us a bit to figure it out. A universal remote or updated satellite dish would help. It would also be nice to have a DVD player for the big TV, with bad weather Directv is out a lot and this would be nice for the family to be able to watch together. (as cheap as $29 at Walmart). The only DVD player is in one bedroom on a little 13 inch tv. My husband fixed the TV connection in the burgundy bedroom upstairs, it wasn’t even hooked up and needed a connecter attached. Also the toilet downstairs was not clean when we arrived. Pubic hair and urine on the back of the rim. There is also a serious problem with “sugar” ants in the kitchen. We had to throw out 2 cakes because of this problem.
To make all of these matters worse, I contacted the owners to let them know of these issues and request a small, fair refund because of these problems and they have yet to respond. (they are certainly one of the highest priced rentals on the island). My advice would be to rent elsewhere. This is a beautiful home, but poorly maintained and NO attention to detail. Very dissapointed stay.
