Lovely Victorian home. Ideal quiet vacation spot for a family in quaint village of Bear River in the Annapolis Valley. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, TV room and den/library. Large bright kitchen. You can eat outside the kitchen under our dogwood tree. Fully furnished and equipped. Cable TV, telephone. Good parking area, paved drive. Non-smoking. Weekly rental (Saturday - Saturday) is $800. Inquire about monthly rates.
Bear River is a charming historic village near Digby and Annapolis Royal. Described by Peter Gzowski (CBC Morningside) in the 1990s as one of the two prettiest places in Canada (the other was on the Pacific Coast), Bear River offers wonderful and exhilarating walks and views.
In Bear River you will find the Dutch Windmill - now the Tourist Information Centre; the Flight of Fancy - a wonderful shop and showplace for the work of Maritime artisans and artists; there are also a number studios and craft shops, a health clinic, restaurant, museum, grocery store, waterfront walk along the tidal river. Enjoy the Cherry Carnival in July and the Digby County Exhibition in August.
It is central for day trips to: Digby - Digby Scallop Days in early August; Upper Clements Theme Park and Wildlife Park; Annapolis Royal - Fort Anne and the Historic Gardens; Port Royal - Champlain's Habitation; Whale Watching off Brier Island; the French (Acadian) Shore - Church Point, and Mavilette Beach; Kejimkujik National Park - picnics, camping and wilderness trips; cross country skiing; downhill skiing at Martock, near Windsor (an hour and a half away); and much more.
