Within a short drive....The Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain. Sugar Mountain, Beech mountain (skiing). Hawks Nest (tubing/zip line). Main Street, Blowing Rock, King Street, Boone and Appalacian State University.  Linville falls and caverns. Moses Cone Memorial Park (horseback riding), and Price Park/Lake (walk to from the cabin on the Boone Fork Loop). Shopping/antiquing. Dining (awesome restaurants), Horn in the West theatre and much much more!!!

A tree house in the woods

First, one must expect a "cabin in the woods" for this one certainly is. Yet, it is not far off the BRP and is near Blowing Rock. And as mentioned in previous reviews, the driveway is steep. That being said, this cute little rustic cabin sparkled- clean, neat and as described. A few minor issues occurred to which the owner quickly responded.

The balcony sits amidst the trees and is enclosed by railings so our dogs could sit out with us. We probably could have sat on the balcony in the rocking chairs for the entire visit because it is so private and so peaceful. There are several hikes nearby off the BRP which we enjoyed. We ate at a delightful restaurant in Blowing Rock, Six Pence" and visited Mast General Store in Boone (the store is a good 40" away)which is a delightful old fashion general store, ancient oak flooring and penny candy to boot.

One thing of concern was that we could not use our cell phones. However, there is a phone in the cabin for local calls.

We have already spoken with the owners about returning... so yes, I would definitely recommend this vacation rental.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Excellent Place to Stay

We stayed at this cabin last weekend and had an awesome time! The cabin is very cozy and clean so I felt right at home. The owner was very nice throughout the whole process and nice to work with. We went on the Boone Fork Loop hiking trail and had a great time. Lots of nice scienery!! All attractions like Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock are near by and for golf lovers, one of the nicest golf courses I have ever seen is within miles away! I do recommend visiting the Mast General Store and Linville Falls and Caverns. I would highly recommend the "Gray Escape" to anyone looking for a great place to stay!
