Peaceful Summer Haven

We had a fun, memorable experience at Lighthouse Landing! The owners were very prompt when getting information to us, thoughtful in products which were stocked in the home, and were a great family to do business with! The cottage is in a great location for those who appreciate privacy and peace & quiet. Our kids enjoyed bike riding in this safe, quiet location. They also got a kick out of fishing off the paddle boat and hand feeding the fish bread from the dock. The swimming area was very clean with a great sandy beach, toys included! Our only issues were from the age of the home / older carpets, as our kids have pretty severe allergies and asthma. The home was not dirty, it was just a little high on the allergen scale for our kids. in addition, They recommended we bring some bottled water due to their water being cloudy. it has been tested as completely safe, but has a cloudy appearance. Also, due to the high iron content in the water, we could not wash any light colored items in the washer. Again, all of this was explained to us in advance, so it was expected. Overall, our experience was very good and I would have rated it as a 4.5 if available! For the price, this property was a great value for our family, and I would recommend it for an enjoyable family vacation.

Owners response: Our goal is for our guests to enjoy "Lighthouse Landing".

The "cloudy water" issue is due to the new iron filter installed at the cottage in 2012 due to the high iron content in the water. The water is totally safe for drinking but guests are informed they may choose to bring bottled water if they wish.

In August of 2012, we were informed by guests that the washer was not working properly-the iron had taken a toll. The following day- a brand new washing machine was installed in the cottage which has greatly improved the laundry situation. We strive to be promptly responsive to issues that arise while guests are staying at the cottage.

We are intentional about making improvements to the cottage every year. Several improvements are in the works for the 2013 season. We are pleased five guest families have already booked a week at "Lighthouse Landing" for 2013. Two of those are are returning for their THIRD summer to enjoy the cottage.

Excellent Family Vacation

We had an incredible week at the cottage. I was very impressed with how clean the cabin was and well stocked for everything you might need. The beach was great for sandcastles and swimming. The 4 children (ages 1-7) all had a blast catching fish off of the dock and going for the "big ones" from off of the boat. The large deck has two gates on it to prevent the little ones from leaving the deck unattended. The fire pit is right on the beach and was great for nightly bon fires. We visited lighthouses, the dunes, the shops, go-carts, movies, golf and a lot of food establishments. We're looking forward to going back for years to come.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing

Fantastic Week At Lighthouse Landing

We had a great time at Lighthouse Landing. The moment I walked in and took a look at the house and the great view, I gave a thumbs up to my wife, and we were not disappointed.

The beach was great. Nice and sandy and perfect for our two year old to hang out, build sand castles, and get wet in the warm weather.

Want to get out for a bit? Grab the paddleboat and take a little ride.

Want to fish? Grab a pole from the closet and see what you can catch.

Want to grill? Charcoal or propane is there for your use.

Ready for that tasty S'more? Go into town, grab a bundle of wood and some fixings, and you're ready to go.

Heading off to the dunes? No problem. They're close as is Silver Lake and Lake Michigan, as well as Pentwater and other little towns where you can grab a bite to eat or do some shopping.

The owners were great. They answered every question we had via e-mail promptly and in full detail. They know the things that guests might need and have made every effort to provide those things. The place was very well stocked, very clean, and decorated cheerfully.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing
