Walk the famous "John Nesbit Loop" - 2 and 1/2 miles of sidewalk that circles the island. Walk to the Wrightsville Beach  Park and enjoy outdoor concerts. Tour the gardens and enjoy outdoor concerts at Airlie Gardens. Visit Historic Downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear River 8 miles away- tour the  USS North Carolina Battleship and enjoy restaurants, bands,quaint shops, plays, horse and buggy tours, or go on a Ghost Walk.  Take the kids to the Exotic Animal Zoo, the Aquarium or the Reptile Zoo.
