Amazing Views!

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable two weeks at Tilghman Island's Knapp Shack! The views are incredible with the open vista of the Chesapeake Bay to one side, the marina and Knapps Narrows to the other. Fishing was surprisingly good. Our 5-year-old grandson caught two at a time off the pier. Crabbing was also exceptional. We caught enough to share with friends and family in a crab feast on two occasions.

The house itself is so very well equipped and the owners could not be more accomodating. The pictures cannot do it justice. You need to see this for yourself!

Be sure to visit Lowe's Wharf while you're there and have dinner at the Bay Hundred, take a day sail on the Rebecca Ruark and a sunset cruise on the Lady Patty. Get fresh fish and softshell crabs at the Fish Market by the bridge. The Country Store has a wide variety of foodstuffs, as well as bakery goods, wines, beer and even liquor and they prepare breakfast, lunch and light dinners that are excellent. Yummy fried corn! Their occasional wine tastings are lots of fun.

If you are a boating enthusiast, use the Knapps Narrows Marina rather than Tilghman Island Marina. It's located at the Bay Hundred Restaurant just over the bridge and includes a pool and other amenities that are available to those who rent boat slips.

What a great place, great house and great people! An added bonus is the attitude of Tilghman and Saint Michaels residents, shop owners and restauranteurs regarding dogs! They are welcome everywhere, including the Knapp Shack!

Excellent Getaway Vacation Home

My husband, 2 boys (ages 10 and 12), my mom, dad, and I had a fantastic week's vacation at the Knapp Shack. We were looking for a quiet get-away with just enough to keep us busy and this filled the bill perfectly! The home IS truly beautiful, clean, and well stocked-just as mentioned in prior reviews that we'd read on-line when searching for a vacation destination. Being right on the water was wonderful and the kayak provided at the home was very well used!
Also, the 2 bikes at the home made for an easy way to see the rest of Tilghman Island w/o having to drive and miss anything. We also spent much of our stay on the screened-in back porch watching the boats and on the upper deck off the master bedroom.
We'd all highly recommend this home, thanks for sharing Mary Ann and Bill!

Knapp Shack - perfectly relaxing

When I arrived at the Knapp Shack after a gruelling week at work and a fun 6 hours on the New Jersey Turnpike, the first words out of my mouth were "OMG, this is perfect". This phrase was repeated regularly during my stay, usually while sipping a glass of wine and watching the boats coming and going. Everything, from the cleanliness of the house to the decor/linens was first class, and the note from Mary Ann apologising for not being able to meet me personally perfectly reflects her high standards.

I cannot recommend Knapp Shack highly enough and will certainly return.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway
