Vista de Brazos in Chama

There is a wraparound deck to take in the sweeping panoramic vista. Heron Lake is an oasis for swimming, fishing, and boating;No wake lake so just sailboats, canoes and no wake fishing craft. Perfect for writing, painting,hanging out, meditating, socializing, swimming or boating in the lake (bring your own boat or rent one at Stone Lake Lodge), or simply sightseeing and hiking in the nearby mountains. It's sunny year-round; not too hot in summer, cool breezes and hummingbirds abound in the evenings. The elevation is 6,700.

Located just west of Tierra Amarilla and the weaving village of Los Ojos. Many nearby activities including, wildlife and bird watching, mountain biking, running, walking, fishing (Trout and Kokanee Salmon), sailing, day spa Ojo Caliente. Heron is a no wake lake so there are no water skiers or noisy jet skis. Short day trips could be Georgia O'Keefes Abiqui and Ghost Ranch, Echo Natural Amphitheatre, Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Day Spa, Santa Fe to the South. Taos to the west. Chama is 20 minutes away and is home to the Toltec and Cumbres Scenic Railroad. Get a sense of what travel used to be like. There are also hiking trails near the dam.
