Cape Haze Retreat

"From our first correspondence, the owner was alway quick with an accomodating reply.
We chose the property based on the photo's shown, and it surpassed my expectations. The decor is warm and inviting. It has three different seating options for dining, the lanai, the dining table and a small table for 4 in the kitchen. There are also 3 bar stools at the counter as well. I guess that impressed me because it's more than I have in my own 3 bedroom house.

I had no idea what the view off the lanai would be like and I was happy to find it had only an endless sprawl of pine trees, palmetto's and oaks, not another building in sight, just a radio tower in the distance.

Another comfy detail is the recliner that my husband spent most evenings in. In front of the recliner would be the flat screen tv and playstation w/a few games and controllers. Under the tv, in the cabinet was a dvd player, some dvd's, board games and lots of decks of cards.

As far as eating....I was glad to have a Publix nearby. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our own meals, but when not in the mood to cook, we have a couple of new favorite restaraunts. While beaching on Boca Grande, the South Beach Grille does an amazing Grouper Rueben.

One of our favorite family outings was to Rum Bay out on Palm Island, we caught the water taxi (5.00pp)at the Palm Bay Marina, (behind Johnny Leverocks, just down the road)which dropped us off right at the restaraunt. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was expecially nice that evening as a summer storm was blowing through as we watched through the large picture windows. Any other Friday night, we would have been able to enjoy a pirate story from Redbeard, the local pirate on Palm Bay, but the staging area for Redbeard was flooded by the storm. Our daughter was invited to help the water taxi driver drive the boat back to the mainland, which helped to make up for the flooded pirate story.

The resort pool is beautiful, we spent plenty of time there as well.

As a native Floridian, I personally loved this location. It is still somewhat undeveloped and gives one a taste of "Old Florida". Whiddens Marina on Boca Grande was a glimse into that era. Sort of stuck in time.

I would definately recommend it to those looking for a very laid back vacation.
Although we didn't have a boat, this spot is ideal for fisherman/women. There are spots to park your trailer/boat on site and plenty of boat ramps nearby."

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway
