vacation rental description
Big Sky, Montana ~ Voted "7th Best Ski Resort in the United States" {Skiing Magazine/Readers' Choice Award}*
Nearby Yellowstone National Park ~ Ranked "2nd Best Wonder of the West", surpassed only by Grand Canyon National Park {History Channel}, Called "America's Serengeti" {Travel Channel}, & Hailed "America's Most Spectacular National Park" {Town & Country Magazine}
This lovely, sunny, completely remodeled and professionally decorated (in a mountain theme), corner, ground-level getaway is located in the fabulous ski resort town of Big Sky, just outside Yellowstone National Park. The Park entrance is approximately 15 minutes from Big Sky, and West Yellowstone is about 30 minutes from there. Old Faithful and the geyser area is approximately 15 minutes from that point. (Big Sky is mid-way between Bozeman and West Yellowstone ~ a breathtaking 45 minute drive to each.) Bozeman is the closest major airport and it has several rental car agencies.
The property is nestled in the heart of a quiet and serene golf course community within the upscale, residential neighborhood known as Meadow Village. Many of the locals' favorite hot-spots at the Big Sky Town Center ~ cafes, restaurants, shopping, groceries, etc. ~ are an easy stroll away. The Meadow Village is commonly regarded as being considerably more desirable than the remote, inconvenient, expensive, crowded, and noisy Mountain Village at Big Sky Resort where conventions are regularly held at one of its large hotels during the winter. And during the spring, summer, and fall the Mountain Village is practically a "ghost town" since it has very little going on then. (Hence the cheaper rental rates in the Mountain Villlage.) Also, since the lower elevation of the Meadow Village has about 60% less snowpack than the Mountain Village, it offers a milder climate with earlier springs, later falls, and a longer summer season, resulting in more year-round recreational opportunities!!
Cozy and charming, this property sports a vaulted and beamed ceiling, fully-equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, disposal, microwave, blender, mixer, pancake griddle, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishes, utensils, cooking spices, etc.), stone fireplace (with COMPLIMENTARY firewood), and redwood deck with furniture, barbeque, and outdoor fireplace. Both the master bedroom (with door lock) and second bedroom (loft) have a queen-size bed, and the chalet-style living room has a comfortable, queen-size sleeper sofa. There is also a new, deluxe "Pack 'n Play" full-size bassinet/playard/changing station (Graco "Kira" model) available for baby. All three main rooms have SATELLITE television (2 of 3 TV's are flat screen) with premium movie channels! Every window has at least one drape or shade so that each room has complete privacy. Abundant linens and towels are provided. This property also offers a pretty, lush, green yard that is dotted with fragrant pine trees, only steps away from the indoor swim center (large/heated pool, hot tub, sauna, locker rooms with additional bathrooms), heated laundry room, 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed championship golf course, and parking area. A swimming pool is a must in the summer (especially for the kids) and a hot tub is a must in the winter (great for apres ski.) No other property within the complex is situated closer to the swim center and laundry room!
This winter playground opens Thanksgiving weekend and stays open through April 24th. Big Sky's award-winning ski school will get beginners on the slopes (6 miles/less than 10 minutes away) quickly. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced skiers will all enjoy incredible skiing on majestic Lone Mountain. It boasts 3,812 acres of lift-accessed ski-able terrain with over 150 named ski runs covering 85 miles, and an awesome 4,350 foot vertical drop (nation's second largest.) Neighboring Moonlight Basin, on the north face of Lone Mountain, is the first new destination ski resort to open in more than twenty years! It features Montana's only high-speed, six passenger chair lift and serves a growing trail network of 76 runs on 1,900 acres of terrain. Both ski resorts are the best-kept secret of the Rockies since they have perfect powder and virtually no lift lines!! Big Sky and Moonlight now offer the Lone Peak Pass, allowing visitors to ski freely between the two resorts (with 5,512 acres of in-bounds ski-able terrain) for the "Biggest Skiing in America".
*Press Release . . . Big Sky is #1 Favorite Resort in North America
BIG SKY, Montana — Big Sky is celebrating this week after being presented with an outstanding mark of distinction. Users of the Web site OnTheSnow(dot com) voted Big Sky as North America’s Favorite Resort in the Overall category of their Visitors Choice Awards. OnTheSnow is the Internet snow reporting Web site for the Mountain News Corporation. Mountain News has been doing radio snow reports for over 40 years; they are the #1 Web site for snow reporting on the information superhighway. On the Web site, skiers and snowboarders can write reviews of resorts that they have visited and are also asked to rank them in five categories: Most Family-friendly, Best Nightlife, Best Downhill Terrain, Best Terrain Park and, the most sought-after, Overall Favorite. Big Sky won the highest accolade of Overall favorite, whilst also receiving many mentions on the Web site for other categories.
The Resort also persistently ranks as the #1 favorite resort in Montana. OnTheSnow attracts 1.2 million unique visitors each month during the winter, so an award such as this truly is a prestigious honor. It shows that a large number of people across the country, and indeed the world, genuinely feel that Big Sky Resort offers the best there is out there in terms of an overall top-notch ski vacation. Reviews on the Web site consistently repeat phrases such as, ‘lift lines are non-existent’ and, ‘great snow and terrain’, highlighting that what Big Sky has to offer really is what people are looking for. Comments of ‘Big Sky is great’ or, ‘best snow and terrain in North America’ are not uncommon.
This exposure will be great for the future of both the Resort and the general community, as not only does it indicate that people will keep returning to Big Sky year after year, but it will also highlight to prospective guests that they can count on a great vacation if they decide to visit here. We are all very excited that so many of our guests love Big Sky and are willing to tell the world about it", says Lyndsey Kiland, a member of the Resort’s marketing team who collected the award. “It’s a great tribute to all the hard work everyone has put in this winter and really shows what we can achieve when we strive to be the best.”

{CAUTION: Be careful to only rent from a licensed/regulated property owner/manager. Some are actually charging their guests taxes while not licensed by the State of Montana. Therefore, they are not submitting the tax monies (7%) collected to the state and are "pocketing" them instead. This, of course, is a crime. It is also a crime not to charge taxes there. Always ask the owner/manager for their Montana license number and their Big Sky resort tax (3%) account number, or call Jeff Salandi at the Dept. of Revenue in Helena to make sure they are legitimately doing business. This is for your own protection. Our Montana license number is 4007564-002-LFT and our Big Sky resort tax account number is 7089.}

Before you rent any property in Big Sky, be sure to ask these 6 important questions to assure that you have the best possible vacation: 1} Is it located in the MEADOW Village, or the much less desirable Mountain Village at Big Sky Resort? 2} Does it have a heated pool and/or hot tub? 3} Does it provide FREE firewood? (Usually hard to find and very expensive in Big Sky!) 4} Does it have SATELLITE TV? (Cable TV constantly goes out in Big Sky, often for extended periods of time.) 5} Does it have at least a few Guest Comments posted? 6} Is it LICENSED?

Please Note: Our "best" rates are those posted and are Firm. However, a 25% Discount is offered for "last-minute" reservations made within 7 days of the arrival date. {Discount not available in conjunction with any other offer.}
Montana has no sales tax; however, we are required by law to charge a 3% local resort tax and a 7% state lodging tax to all reservations. {Establishments that do not charge both of these taxes are not licensed or regulated.} Additionally, we add a standard departure cleaning charge of $100 to each reservation.
50% deposit due to confirm reservation. Balance due 30 days {60 days for "Summer" & "Winter" reservations} prior to arrival date. Refundable damage deposit {25% of base rental amount or $250, whichever is greater} due with balance. This is standard policy of all PayPal merchants since we do not have our guests' credit card information for collateral, as stated below.
We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and debit cards through PayPal ~ the SAFEST, EASIEST way to charge your trip and NO PayPal account is needed. We never see your credit card information AND we pays all fees!! {2% DISCOUNT offered to guests who pay via cash or wire transfer!}
Cancellation Policy: If reservation is canceled 30 days {60 days for "Summer" & "Winter" reservations} or more prior to arrival date, deposit will be immediately refunded in full. If reservation is canceled 15-30 days {30-60 days for "Summer" & "Winter" reservations} prior to arrival date, deposit subject to forfeit. If reservation is canceled less than 15 days {30 days for "Summer" & "Winter" reservations} of arrival date, full reservation amount {excluding taxes, cleaning fee, and damage deposit} subject to forfeit. We found it necessary to implement this cancellation policy due to the fact that most people plan their Yellowstone and ski vacations months in advance. Therefore, when a guest cancels close to their arrival date, it leaves us in a very challenging position to secure a "last minute" replacement guest. We encourage all of our guests to simply purchase trip insurance from a separate entity {i.e., CSA ~ #1 rated by Consumer Reports} if there is a chance they may need to cancel outside the stated time frames.
