Winner Dazzling Decor award in HomeAway Traveler Magazine...
The best of both worlds. Right in picturesque Historic Wickford Village, yet in an idyllic waterfront setting.
Historic Cove Cottage (completely renovated in 2007) is literally steps away from Wickford Harbor, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, grocery, gourmet and fish markets, pharmacy, boutiques, art galleries, library, wine merchant. over 45 shops! Only 3 1/2 blocks from the beach. At the same time, you are in a tranquil private, nearly one-acre compound surrounded on two sides by salt water, and 'away from it all'.
This Historic Cape started out in the early 1800s as the workshop of generations of the McKenzie family, Boatwrights and merchants. Later, it was used as a carriage house. In the 1950’s it became the studio and gallery of artist Robert Mac Meehan. It was here that the Wickford Art Festival was conceived in 1961.
The home has been newly transformed into a luxurious, charming residence, providing such amenities as central air conditioning and upscale appliances. The residence offers both comfort and charm in a picture-perfect setting, melding modern-day convenience with its historical roots.
Setting: The home is located on a large, landscaped compound, surrounded on two sides by Academy Cove. Just to the East of the property, passing under a small bridge, the Cove joins Wickford harbor.
