Duck's Nest and Morningside in Vashon Island

Duck's Nest sits at the bottom of the hill.  It is 4 feet from water's edge.   Large deck cantilevers over a low bank bulkhead with steps to the beach.  A big plus!!!  You can drive in just steps from the double entry doors.  No long steep slippery trail.  The front of the house is solid windows with french doors on each side.  Stained glass windows in the well appointed kitchen.  Newer furnishings in a marine motif.  Large bedroom with queen size bed and a very comfortable queen size hide-a-bed.  The western exposure gives you the afternoon sun & lovely evening sunsets.  Vacant land and water on 3 sides, the other side heavily treed gives maximum privacy & seclusion.

Morningside sits on top of the hill with an expansive view of the Bay and a large front yard with apple & pear trees.  Bring your volleyball & croquet set.  Two story with a huge upstairs bedroom & sitting area.  A very fun place decorated in a tropical motif, including collectable bamboo furniture, lots of silk plants occupied by a monkey and a parrot.  Quite colorful, kind of funky but sweet, clean & romantic.

Duck's Nest:  Comphy overstuffed furniture,  cable TV and a well furnished kitchen.  Microwave, dishwasher, etc.  Well stocked, even spices.  Just bring your own favorite coffee blend and groceries of course.  Some books and games provided.  Full bath with a 2 person soaking tub.  AC too.  Large deck with patio patio umbrella & furniture and steps to the beach.  (Please bring your own beach towels).  BBQ, outdoor brick fireplace & sink.  Bring your own propane bottles & fireplace wood, mine has been used up.

Morningside:  Upstairs bedroom has a queen size bed, cable TV & AC.  Downstairs is a kitchenette, 3/4 bath, new queen size futon.  Well stocked with pots, pans, dishware, books, linens for bed & bath.  Small deck with a canopy and lawn chairs for the yard. 

The property is just blocks from the Dockton Park that offers boat moorage, BBQ, picnic area & play ground big toys and swim area for children .  Have your boater friends meet you there.   Long natural hiking trails among the variety of trees & ferns.  Historic Dockton at the turn of the 19th century was the largest drydock yard west the Mississippi. It used to have 2 hotels.  Fishing boats now occupy part of the old docks.  Sidewalks built by the CCC's.

"Uptown" Vashon has all the amenities of a friendly small town.  Sandwhich shops, fine upscale restaurants & bars, with usually live music & dance on the week end,  variety of shops, art galleries, botiques, theater, grocers and a wonderful Farmers market with home grown produce and flowers.

Summer rates Minimum 2 nights.  $150 for Duck's Nest per couple, $15 per night per person 13 years old or better.  $10 per night per pet. 

Morningside Minimum 2 nights $100 per couple.  $15 per night per person 13 years old or better.  $10 per night per pet.

Tax  not included in these prices.  Refundable deposit  $200 plus half of reserved days stay.  Cancellation prior to 30 days reserved will be charged for 2 days.  Credit cards only, please.  Please note significant discouts for longer stays.
