vacation rental description
Quaint Beachfront Cottage Minutes from Seattle
Bud and Joan welcome you to their private two-bedroom, two bath, home away from home, located on the first bay on rural Camano Island, Washington, USA; just a short 60 minutes north of Seattle. No ferry, no lines. Relax the moment you arrive.
Enjoy the Outdoors Every Waking Moment
Savor a professionally maintained yard, complete with a cutting herb garden for your culinary experiments. Besides the kitchen there is a large briquette barbeque plus a bonfire pit on the beach for roasting marshmallows. Beautiful sherbet sunsets at dusk make way to stars that light up the night sky. It’s captivating.
A Beach Experience Right Outside
A few strides across the lawn and you’re at the waters edge. You can simply sit and sip your favorite beverage on the viewing deck or be more adventurous and launch the paddle board, swim to the raft, or try one of our “floaty” things in water that is often unbelievably bathtub warm. For birds, the bay is an important food rich stopover estuary in Puget Sound: owned by the Nature Conservancy. You can use our high quality “glasses” to spot birds and then identify them in our bird book library. (Well over 100 different species have been seen from the beach.) The thrill of walking amongst many of the smaller migrating birds as you stroll the flats at low tide, brings a new meaning to communing with nature.
Generous Soothing Space Sleeps Six
Open space for gathering, eating and relaxing together with two private bedrooms, it’s perfect for families or couples. Each bedroom sleeps two with a convertible couch for another two. It’s decorated in a comfortable and cozy style,
You can also relax in a library alcove with a thoughtful selection of books, bask in the sunroom or relish the view in a most comfortable rocking armchair next to the wood stove.
A Kitchen for the Weekend Gourmand
Efficiently fitted out with all the usual and then some. From a chain mail oyster shucking glove to a bag of tea candles for romantic dining. We’ve tried to think of everything you will need to enhance your stay. Nearby local farm markets stock everything from farm fresh organic vegetables, boutique cheese, grass fed beef and much more. We have developed a shopping map for all our favorite specialty food stores, stalls and farms nearby and it’s waiting for your exploration.

activities and attractions in Camano Island Washington
Some guests are content to hang out under the umbrella on the viewing deck and watch the beach unfold. Others are all over the beach experience which is almost unlimited. Great beach walks, agates, shells and surprises at every new tide line. The water is often very warm after coming in across the heated beach and even grandparents have been known to swim to the raft. There is a paddle board and numerous “floaty things” to play with. If you bring your own kayak launch right there and explore some very interesting and remote areas within the bay only reachable by small boat. The beach has a gentle slope and is kid freindly. Thankfully no one has a jet ski at our beach so we avoid the distracting commotion so common elsewhere. There is excellent birding opportunity right from the viewing deck; glasses and books are provided.
Nearby Stanwood has all the benefits of a small town. Camano Island is noted for its artisans, many of which have open studios and Chihuly’s former school, Pilchuck Glass is nearby. There is one winery as of this writing and a great wine shop. Golf, boat rental, hiking, biking and sightseeing are all enjoyed nearby. Slightly further a field are the towns of Conway and LaConner with some fabulous restaurants, boutique shopping, antiquing and the famous North West Museum of Modern Art. We have a map and listing of all these locations and more. We have arrangements with some for a discount for our guests.
