vacation rental description
Large, comfortable beach house just a short stroll to private community beach access on Mutiny Bay. The beach is great for walking and building sand castles in summer, or storm watching and beachcombing in winter. Sailors' End is set three lots back from the beach on wetlands where you'll see rabbits, deer, coyotes, bald eagles, osprey, and migratory water fowl. Gather in our beach house to cozy up, venture out, or peek at ships from the deck.
The upstairs living room is spacious and airy with sky lights and an open floorplan facing peekaboo views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It's been recently remodeled with new windows, doors, and bamboo flooring--clean and fresh. If you're looking for a romantic weekend getaway, you'll spend your time in front of the fire (winter) or on the deck (summer) before strolling down to the beach at sunset. Master bedroom has king bed; second upstairs bedroom has double. All bedrooms have down comforters and pillows (non-down options available). Kitchen still sports 70s formica :) but is large enough for multiple chefs and stocked with plenty of dishes/utensils for large groups. Open floorplan is great for entertaining; artistic touches add whimsy and style. Espresso machine and iPod sound system, too.
If you've got friends or kids joining you, you'll make use of the lower level, which is more rustic with painted wood-plank floors. The family room downstairs has ping pong table, DVD player, board games, toys, and fireplace. Also two more bedrooms (queen + twin, and full + twin) and laundry room. Plenty of space for folks to gather, or curl up alone for a little down time.
We're a short drive--or bike ride!--to Freeland's excellent grocery store, Langley's antique shops, and South Whidbey State Park's old-growth hiking trails. Large backyard has apple tree and swing, and beckons for wiffle ball, croquet, or bocce ball. In the evening, listen to croaking frogs before roasting marshmallows around the outdoor fire pit. Sailors' End is a down-to-earth beach house, the kind you remember from your childhood--nothing fancy, but comfortable, well-appointed, and a great place for relaxation and fun.
