Ienia - Luxury Mountain Estate in Hunter Mountain

Ienia, a historical estate set on nearly twenty private acres in the exclusive Onteora enclave of the Catskill Mountains, offers a unique retreat April-November annually.

Ienia's ten-year renovation, designed and executed by Nehapwa Cottage Company, has resulted in an exquisitly private and elegant property. Reflecting an Arts and Crafts vernacular, the estate's historical architecture provides a unique backdrop for a sophisticated blend of antique and modern furnishings, art and decor.

Surrounded by continuously blooming pernnial gardens, the Main House looks across the estate's expansive stonewall enclosed grounds that include wide-reaching lawns, wildflower meadows and forest with views towards the Hudson River.

The Main House, which contains the estate's extensive Hudson River School genre art collection, provides an array of 21st Century amenities and comfort.

In addition, The Studio offers a beautifully unique venue for events, celebrations, dinner parties, meetings and work sessions.

Ienia is well suited for private and corporate groups.  We work with you at the time of reservation to ensure your customized grocery, meal preparation, entertainment, activity and housekeeping requirements are met.  

Children are welcomed guests.

Small dogs are welcome.

Separate accomodations are available for personal chef, nanny or housekeeper.

Transportation is available to and from Hudson Train Station or Albany Airport.

The Main House

The First Floor offers a grand venue including formal entry a with 30-foot vaulted ceiling, library, living room, dining room, massive stone fireplaces, fully equiped chef's kitchen and bakery, scullery, back delivery entrance, and an extensive wrap-around porch with miles of unobstructed views across a conopy of protected forest.  The chef's kitchen and bakery are fully appointed with restaurant grade preparation spaces, applicances and equipment including a Wolf 60"range and double ovens, two additional Wolf baking ovens, SubZero refridgerator/freezer, SubZero wine cooler and storage, large capacity ice maker, three prep sinks, separate double pot/pan sink and a comprehensive selection of kitchen equipment.  The dining room is amply supplied with table linens, dishware, cutlery and glassware.

The Second Floor offers: Four private en suite bedrooms that include lushly appointed queen beds, generous sitting area with cozy reading chair and ottoman; work desk; bathroom stocked with egyptian cotton towels, robes and Kiehls grooming products; fireplace and comfortably furnished covered porch with stuning views across the estate's grounds.  Suites are equiped with personal DVD movie player, hairdryer and alarm clock.  In addition, the second floor offers a fully equipped study with ample workspace, privacy and expansive views towards the Hudson River.  A library of over 300 DVD movies is available.  A wide-selection of music is available to play on the high-quality sound system wired throughout the house including an iPod dock to customize your tunes if desired.

Outdoor:  Swimming; Cycling; Hiking; Golf; Tennis; Baseball; Vollyball; Canoeing; Kayaking; Fly Fishing; Horseback Riding/Instruction.  A long-standing tradition, Croquet is offered on the estate's South Lawn. 

Food:  Cooking classes and retreats, taught by graduates of The Culinary Institute of America, are available.

Health:  Intensive health retreats, including healthy menus, a daily exercise regime and spa treatments, are available.

Art:  A wide-array of classes and activities are available to children, teens and adults at Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts. (15 minutes from Ienia.)

Entertainment:  Our local theatre offers current and Art House movies.  In addition, numerous theatre, dance and music options are available as part of The Catskill Mountain Foundation's seasonal schedule.

Spa Services:  Exceptional massage is available on-site in the relaxed privacy of your suite.  Extensive spa services are available at The Emerson Spa. (30 minutes from Ienia.)

Please note:  Ranges reflect the minimum to maximum rate for the period indicated.  For example, the weekend rate (three nights) for 8 guests (four suites) is $2,400.  Because the cottage is reserved for the exclusive use of one group at a time, the minimum rate applies to 1-3 suite occupancy non-dependent on number of guests (maximum 2 guests per suite).  fifty-percent deposit is required at the time your reservation is booked.  Cancellations four-weeks prior to reservations will result in a fifty-percent refund of deposit.  Refunds are not provided for cancellations later than four-weeks prior to reservation.
