Ocean State Cottage in Charlestown

Serene. Beautiful. A sunny cottage with lots of windows, and lots of light. You can hear the mighty Atlantic, just a walkable mile away at Charlestown Beach.

The brown, cedar shake cottage has seven rooms: three bedrooms, a large kitchen, a dining room, a living room and a foyer. It has one bathroom and a private outdoor shower.

The three bedrooms sleep six: The Master bedroom has a double bed; the middle bedroom has a trundle bed (set up as two singles);  the front bedroom has a bunk bed. Each bedroom has a closet. The living room has a convertible sofa that sleeps two.

The large kitchen has a counter and stools that seat five for convenient breakfast, lunch or snacking. It has pots, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, coffeemaker, microwave, blender and toaster. It also has a washer and dryer.

- The living room has a sofa-bed, rockers and TV/VCR/DVD.

- The dining room has a large table and six chairs.

- The foyer is a bright area for reading, relaxing.

- The cottage sits on a landscaped lot with a private backyard, screened by foliage on one side and a stockade fence in the rear. Green Hill Pond is one block over from the house, with a beach at one end and a dock at the other. The backyard has a patio with a gas grill and large picnic table. An enclosed, private, outdoor shower is on the bedroom side of the cottage.

- Beach pass for Charlestown Beach and Blue Shutters Beach (worth $115 a week if used every day).

- Cleaning service.

- DVD and VCR.

- Microwave.

- Gas grill.

- Washer and dryer.

- Secluded outdoor shower.

- The Charlestown Super-Mini is five minutes from the house - wonderful fish and baked goods (DVD's, too).

Lots to do in the Charlestown area, including swimming, fishing and golf.

Wonderful restaurants in all price ranges.

The Theatre by the Sea is 10 minutes away and the Granite Theatre is 20 minutes away.

It's easy to get to Newport (45 minutes); Block Island (30 minutes to Point Judith ferry); Foxwoods Casino (45 minutes); and Providence (45 minutes).

The Pawtucket Red Sox are 45 minutes away.

I know lots of places to go, activities to do and restaurants (and ice cream shops) to eat at, based on 20 years of pleasurable Ocean State vacations.

The house is also available as a winter rental, from September, 2013-May, 2014.
