Built in 2004, the Fern Way home is a delightful blend of modern convenience and rustic style. Designed by a local architect to integrate with the beautiful natural setting of Mount Desert Island, at every turn the interior of Fern Way celebrates the natural world.
A gently curing driveway through the woods leads to the quiet 4.5 acres that surrounds Fern Way. The attractive exterior is Adirondack style live edge siding, complimented by live cedar posts supporting an entry porch overlooking the large lawn. Entering the house, two French doors lead you into a large open floor plan allowing for ease and comfort of a large group or family gathering.
Classic post and beam details including a stunning custom banister in maple and a soaring two story stonewall define the sunny living area. The large kitchen is ideal for preparing family meals with ample counter space, appliances and gadgets. A screened porch with dinning table and futon couch is the perfect spot to start your day with coffee and end it with sunsets through the trees. A two-person jetted tub helps ease tired muscles after a fun filled day exploring Acadia.

Fern Way’s location is ideal for exploring all of Mount Desert Island. It is only a 5 min walk to Long Pond, the largest lake on the island where there is a picnic area, swimming beach, and boat rental. Nearby are several highlights of Mount Desert Island including the Beech Mt hiking area, Beech Hill organic farm stand, and the village of Somesville and Somes Harbor where you can access the free island wide shuttle bus. It’s central location allows for easy access to all areas of Mount Desert Island, including the secluded hidden treasures on the “quite side” of Acadia National Park, being only 10 min to Bar Harbor and 5 min to Southwest Harbor.

The following is our rental process:
Step 1: The phone call
Give us a call regarding the house you are interested in. We will check availability,
answer any questions you might have, make sure the house is a good fit for your needs.
To hold the reservation, we will need a credit card number.
Step 2: The lease
We will send you a lease and tenant information form. You will return these with a
security deposit, and first rental deposit. Once received, we will send you a reservation
letter and copy of your signed lease.
Step 3: Final confirmation
Thirty days before your arrival, your second rental deposit is due. Once received, we
will send you a final confirmation letter including a map with directions to the house and
key location.
Step 4: Security deposit returned
Within two weeks following the end of your rental, we will send you your security deposit
(minus any charges for damage, outstanding bills, excessive cleaning) and a quality survey
form.
The following is our cancellation policy:
Should the Lessee be unable to occupy the premises for any reason, except the fault
of the Lessor, the Lessor will keep all payments and the Lessee will be liable for the
remainder of the rent due. If the Lessor is able to rent the premises for the same period of
time covered by the lease to another tenant, Lessee with be refunded payments less a 15%
of rental cost booking fee.
