Cottage on Donnell Pond in Acadia

Nutkin Cottage on Squirrel Lane is a charming camp on Donnell Pond, light and airy, the perfect place to relax for a week or two. Donnel Pond is lake size and considered one of the most pristine lakes in the state of Maine. A good part of the shoreline is protected. Our cottage is at the end of the lane, down close to the water, giving it privacy from it's neighbors. Built in the 1940s, it's exterior profile is humble, however it's interior has been completely painted and is fresh and clean. Bright furnishings give it a very nice cottage feel.

The cottage kitchen is fully supplied with pots, pans, dishes, microwave, toaster. Linens and towels are ready and waiting. There's a washer and dryer. We use the pond water so bring drinking water in with you. We leave a couple of gallons from our own well to start with.

There's a master bedroom with queen size bed and its own bathroom. The second bedroom is more of a bunkroom with a double bed under a twin and a second set of twin bunks. All bedding is furnished.

We have a canoe for paddling. There's plenty of room on the waterfront if you'd like to bring your own kayaks or boat. The boat launch is very convenient. We have plenty of life jackets. The swimming is great!

There are two decks with lots of seating. A gas grill resides on one of them.

We are about 45 minutes from Acadia on Mount Desert Island and 35 minutes from Acadia at Schoodic Point. We are 30 minutes from Ellsworth where there are also lots of shopping spots and restaurants. Closer to the cottage, about 10 minutes away, is a local general store and gas station.

There are other beaches around the pond to visit, as well as several mountains to climb. We'll leave a map at the camp.
