vacation rental description
Our roomy cottage is located in the heart of the Historic District
of Tarpon Springs. The Safford House Museum is directly behind us
and the renowned Inness paintings can be seen across the street from
our house. The recently rennovated cottage was built over 100 years
ago and has happily housed generations of Greek families who helped
establish the Sponge Fishing industry in Tarpon Springs. Located on
a large, corner lot the house offers an open floor plan with large
rooms, views and plenty of space for all. There is onsite parking
for up to 5 vehicles. Easy walk to Spring Bayou where you can watch
Manatee swim in the 72 degree spring water. Downtown with its many
antique stores and the famed Pinellas Trail are just a five minute
walk. In less than 10 minutes you can walk to the Historic Sponge
Docks in the Greek Village area along the Anclote River. Here you
can take a river tour, have a delicious Greek dinner or lunch in one
of the many, fine restaurants or just sample desserts in a cafe. The
air is rich with the aromas of cooking, cries of seagulls and exotic
Greek music. If you would rather not walk then take the old
fashioned trolley which stops in front. It will ferry you around
town all day for a nominal charge. Area beaches are about 10 minute
drive as is Lake Tarpon and several state and county parks. Pick
sweet mangos from our own trees in July, savor the avocados and
citrus during December/January...take a few back on the plane with
you! The house is very comfortable, its bedrooms large and living
spaces lend themselves to entertaining or sitting quietly alone. You
will really appreciate the quiet and privacy..our cottage is not in
a condo community. Due to local ordinances we cannot rent for fewer than 6 weeks.
cottage rental amenities
Our cottage has been lovingly and carefully rennovated in recent years.
From its new tin roof to refinished hard wood floors no expense was
spared in making this a clean, comfortable and easy to live in
house. The main part of the cottage has 2BR's and a shared bath. The Full Bath
is tiled, with His & Hers pedestal sinks and claw footed tub with
shower. Each of the bedrooms has a queen size bed. There is a dining room and the kitchen has several additional eating areas. The dining room flows into
the large living room where there is seating for 5 on the Summer style wicker
sofas. Beneath a bank of windows is a large window seat with comfortable
pillows for day dreaming or people watching. Lying there myself I've watched
seagulls and hawks cruising overhead and Red Headed woodpeckers
working the palm trees over. The modernized kitchen has all new
appliances: refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and gas stove. From it's hand painted floors to antique farmhouse sink it is a
great place to cook, lounge and gather in. The kitchen leads to the
laundry room with its stacked washer/dryer and separate entrance
onto wrap around rear porch. Connected to this is the Master Suite
with its queen size bed, walk in closet and french doors opening
onto the porch. Master bath has sunken tub and oversized, custom
designed shower. There are TV/DVD/VCR units in the Master
Suite and living room. A 3rd TV with DVD/Tape player is located in our media room. Here we have an additional couch plus a 350 DVD/Video Tape library for your use with many titles for young ones to choose from. There are also childrens toys and board games on hand . All three of the televisions receive satelite programming. There is so much to do in the Tarpon Springs/ Dunedin area however that we doubt you'll be spending much time at home.
