activities and attractions in Wellfleet Cape Cod
Over 70% of Wellfleet's land lies within the protected Cape Cod National Seashore, making it a haven for those who treasure the Cape's wild, natural beauty. The town has gorgeous bay and ocean beaches, crystal clear freshwater ponds, miles of hiking trails on Great Island, numerous art galleries, several fine restaurants, a working harbor, and quaint, historic "downtown." You'll also find a superb local theater company called Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT), great back roads for biking, and Audubon's beutiful Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Just for kids, there's and old fashioned drive-in movie theater, boat and water-bike rentals at Gull Pond (also kid-friendly dock, swimming area, and life guards), several ice-cream stands, and miniature golf. It's 20 minutes to Provincetown where you'll find whale watches, unique shops, and a generally fun and zany place to visit (and then leave).
