Meadow and Mountain Chalet in Roxbury

Meadow & Mountain Chalet is a cedar-shingled house in the style of a Swiss chalet, set on nine acres with a wrap-around deck. The house, is in an upscale community, Roxbury Run, but isolated from views of other homes. To the west, it looks out onto a seven-acre meadow with beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains. To the east, there are more mountain views and a valley.

The living room has a beautiful ceder cathedral ceiling with a large fireplace. An island separates a fully equipped kitchen from the small dining area. Behind the living room on the first floor is a den, bedroom with a queen-size bed and full bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed and one with two twin beds) and a full bathroom with bidet.

Set in a corner of the property, there is an old tennis court with night lightening and a basket ball hoop on one end. A little outside the house, on the lawn, is a bocce court. The house also comes with privileges to the Roxbury Run Swim and Tennis Club (in the community), which offers  a lovely  out-door heated pool and two tennis courts.

The house can be enjoyed all year round: swimming in the summer in the Ro, beautiful views of the changing colors of the leaves in the fall, skiing nearby (Belleayre and Platekill ski resorts are 12 minutes away).

Golf is available 15 minutes away at the Hanah Golf Club. There is also a  nine-hole course just outside of Margaretville. One can also play a few holes on the club grounds, next to the pool.

Meadow & Mountain Chalet is easily to reach - forty minutes  from Woodstock and 2 1/2 hours from NYC. 

The house comes fully equipped: sheets, blankets, heated mattress covers for the winter, towels, hair dryer, complete set of silverware, dishes, pots and pans, glasses and a variety of utensils, toaster oven, microwave, blender, juicer, coffee maker (both Melita and stove-top espresso machine), dish washer, and washer and dryer in the basement.

Satellite TV, DVD player,VCR player and stereo.  

In one corner of the wrap-around deck there is built-in wooden table that comfortable seats eight. An umbrella in the middle of the table provides shade. On the deck, there are three lounge chairs, a small bistro-type table with two chairs as well as other types of seating. There is also gas grill on the deck.

Mobile phone service is available by Verizon Wireless.

The Catskill Mountain area near Meadow & Mountain Chalet is great for hiking. Trails are well marked and range from easy to strenuous. There are books written about these trails available in book stores and on Amazon. One can also hike, walk or snow shoe directly from the house, which abuts a 350-acre property open to home owners of the community and their guests.

The Belleayre Music Festival runs all summer long and offers a variety of concerts from classical to jazz to rock and reggae.

About 30 minutes, there is white-water tubing on the Esopus (Phoenicia). In the same area are the award-winning spas Emerson and Copper Hood. The area around Rt. 28 offers great restaurants.

Every Saturday morning between May and October, there is a well-known farmer's market at the Round Barn near Roxbury, offering local produce and crafts.The Arkville Flea Market right on Rte. 28 is open on summer weekends.

Weekend charge is between $500. and $600. depending on the season. If the week stay includes an additional weekend, the above weekend charge will be added.  Discount for longer stays are possible.
