vacation rental description
Hi Everyone - this summer we're completing stunning renovations that will make Raspberry Island Cottage in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the setting
for a vacation you’ll always treasure. We'll be open for guests starting in mid-August through October - which are wondeerful months in Nova Scotia!
You can’t beat the location − on an island (reached by causeway) −
with 270 degree ocean and bay views, stunning sunrises competing for
your attention with breath-taking sunsets, and eagles, loons, osprey
and other water birds galore.
Best kept secret: The fall months are fabulous! Great weather,
everything's still open, and there are fewer tourists. Yes, you CAN
get away (write that book you always thought about?)
And you’re a short drive away from Lunenburg, a UNESCO Heritage town,
with its picturesque Victorian architecture, unique shops and art
galleries, fabulous restaurants, tall ships and Fisheries Museum.
Across the harbor are some of the prettiest unspoiled fishing villages
in the Province, Blue Rocks and Stonehurst (location for the movie
Dolores Claiborne) with unimaginably beautiful kayaking opportunities.
Down the road is the Ovens Natural Park, where, in addition to the
dramatic sea caves and hiking, you can catch Steve Chapin (Harry’s
brother), providing NY quality cabaret 5 nights a week.
Nearby Mahone Bay offers its own charms as well, and it’s a good place
to rent bikes and kayaks or sign up for whale watching.
We're also close to Hirtles' and Kingsburg Beaches with spectacular
hiking along the sea cliffs.
Halifax, with its museums, music and pubs, is a little over an hour
away, Peggy’s Cove lighthouse under an hour. The Annapolis Valley,
Kejimkujik National Wildlife Preserve, local wineries, and the 40’ Bay
of Fundy tides are convenient day trips.
The cottage sleeps 8 (master suite/private bath plus 2 guest bedrooms - 1 queen 1 double, and a loft for
kids reached by ladder) and a second guest bath.
If you want a base to explore one of the prettiest, most charming
locations in Maritime Canada (like Maine but more laid back and less
crowded), walk along pristine beaches, or just kick back and relax on
the 14’x26’ deck (without the US heat and congestion), this is the
place for you.
Transportation: Many direct flights to Halifax, Nova Scotia. High-speed
car ferries from Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine.
cottage rental amenities
We are completing additions this summer that triple the size of the cottage.
A stunning 26'x14' Lindall sunroom overlooking the back bay and a 22'x24' master suite with private study/offics and bath.
The cottage is fully equipped with everything you’ll need (kitchen,
coffee maker, microwave, towels and linens and washer/dryer), and has stereo, VCR/DVD, and Cable TV/ high-speeed internet (and an excellent library of books, music and classic videos). But with so much to see and do, why would you want to stay indoors?
