Enjoyed casa Huul Kiin

Review submitted: March 25, 2011   Date of arrival: March 8, 2011

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Huul Kiin. Lizette, the owner, was very prompt, both in meeting us at the property and checking us out at the end of our stay. The beds were comfortable and the hammocks great, for use indoors and out. Our favorite part of the day, was having the sun rise in the east, shine through our window and the palm trees. We sat on the patio in the padded beach chairs and watched the pelicans fish for hours--it was lovely! Provisions in the house were more than suitable with beach towels, bath towels, and plenty of kitchen items. There was warm water which was wonderful in the shower and for washing dishes. The refrigerator was large and worked well. Lizette provided over 20 gallons of drinking water and also gave us a welcome tray of fresh fruit, wine and coffee which we really enjoyed!! In addition, she had a vase of beautiful flowers on the dining room table. She is an incredibly warm and wonderful hostess. She provided us with her cell phone number and told us to call should we need anything at all. She checked in with some friends of ours to make sure we were doing okay. She also inquired about taxis and costs to travel from Chelem to Merida, and put us in touch with Fredy, whom we did call on for transportation a couple of times. He too was extremely friendly and accommodating! Lizette told us that she hopes to make some changes on the house; adding a bathroom and possibly an upstairs bedroom and a pool. Those would be great additions! I believe a second bathroom which did not connect right to the sandy beach outside would be a very good idea--it would be much cleaner. The view from a proposed second story would be incredible! My suggestions to Lizette were that she have someone clean up the beach and all around the casita prior to any guest arrival. I know it is difficult to stay on top of this because the wind blows every day and the tide brings in refuse, but it truly needs to be done so people feel it is clean. I also would suggest a more thorough cleaning of the house and the refrigerator especially. Keeping a beach house clean, is also hard due to the sand, but I think a little better cleaning would make most guests feel more comfortable. My final comments to people renting this property would be that you either need to really stock up on groceries for your stay and/or have access to a vehicle as there isn't anything within walking distance. This property is quiet and nice. Nos encanto!
