 Welcome to our newly opened Poipu vacation beach rental, ‘Alohi a Kai.  In Hawaiian, “ ‘alohi” means splendor, where “a kai” means by the sea.   In the process of searching for a name, we were determined to capture a picture of our beach home in just a few words.  We feel honored to have bestowed upon our home the Hawaiian name, ‘Alohi a Kai.   We believe it is an accurate reflection of the special, vacation opportunity that awaits you here on the island of Kauai. 

Our beautifully decorated, incredibly spacious, island style home was created and carefully designed to become a vacation rental.  It was built with both the luxury features one would desire when on vacation, as well as every convenience one would expect from a custom built home.  The “ ‘alohi’” feeling of brightness and shining splendor warmly flows throughout this dwelling.  If you yearn to be by the sea, or as we call it, “a kai,” without paying a sky-rocket price, our beach rental is the perfect fit. 

First thing in morning, step out onto ‘Alohi a Kai’s lanai and quietly watch the sun rise, while sipping a warm cup of coffee.  Come evening, witness the Hawaiian sky transform into Poipu’s notorious deep golden, orange, pink and purple sunset hues, while barbequing outside or perhaps, enjoying a Mai Tai.  Throughout the day, put your feet up and relax privately inside, while enjoying the breathtaking views through our expansive windows. 

You are just minutes from Kauai’s south side most popular and beautiful beaches.  Simply walk across to Poipu Beach Park, voted numerous times as the #1 beach in America or stroll to Waiohai Beach.  Both beaches are known for their sparkling, turquoise waters, soft, golden sand and excellent swimming, snorkeling, body-boarding, surfing and sun-bathing conditions.  Don’t be surprised if you see a turtle or dolphin close to you!  Poipu is a famous destination for spotting turtles, dolphins and seals swimming right along the pristine shoreline.  Look a little farther and most likely, during whale season, you will spot a whale!  It is also a common experience to find a turtle or seal beaching near you, enjoying the same warm, blissful sun and sand. 

Kauai’s south shore contains gourmet island style dining at its finest.  Enjoy fine Pacific Rim cuisine at Roy’s, the romantic ocean view and ambience of The Beach House, or the tropical thatched roof hut and waterfall setting at Tidepools.  If you are yearning for a more casual atmosphere, walk to Brennecke’s Beach Bar and Grill and enjoy quality food at an affordable price, still with a beach view.  If you desire the seclusion of dining romantically alone, try your hand at creating your own gourmet meal in our fully stocked kitchen.  Bask in the romance of sharing a private, candlelight dinner by sunset or moonlight.  Then, unwind the night away in our Jacuzzi tub.

Talk about location!  ‘Alohi a Kai is perfectly situated in sunny Poipu’s prime spot.  From our front door, if you walk as little as five minutes, you will arrive at Poipu Beach Park.  Poipu Beach Park has been voted again and again as America’s #1 beach, loved for its convenience, as well as its beauty.  With golden sand, perfect weather and blue water, Poipu Beach Park truly is a magical place to explore.   Swimming, sun bathing, sand castle making, surfing, snorkeling and body boarding opportunities abound!  However, at Poipu Beach Park you also have the on-site convenience of near-by shade, bathrooms, picnic tables and lifeguards.  In addition, restaurants and shops are right across the way.  

If you are traveling with babies, toddlers or young children, you will love Poipu Beach Park’s Baby Beach.  Baby Beach is a shallow, naturally enclosed beach “haven” for your little ones to safely play in, allowing you to simply relax close by on the sand.   Your kids will also be thrilled at having their very own colorful, beach playground right there on the sea.  For kids and the kid in all of us, there still is more!  Poipu’s favorite ice-cream and shave ice (snow cone) parlor is right there too!

Waiohai Beach, which is also within walking distance of ‘Alohi a Kai is known for its “swimming pool” like water and beckoning waves.  Waiohai Beach is also popular for its fun and bustling beachside bar and grill.  With live Hawaiian music echoing across the ocean and the option to enjoy “pupus” (appetizers) and tropical drinks, Waohai Beach is also a favorite spot to watch the sunset.
