The Glass Mansion is indeed a beautiful place!

We rented the house for the month of May, 2010. As promised, we were met at the airport and, after picking up our rental car, led to the house. It's a little tricky finding your way around at first so this was a wonderful extra.

The house was everything as advertised. It is stunning both inside and outside. All the beds were very comfortable and the inside is very tastefully decorated. The appliances seemed a little dirty and dated but were very functional and we had no problems with them at all. The outside has plenty of quality, comfortable furniture next to nice sized pool. The only trouble at all with the accomodation is the lack of hot water. Not a real necessity, just a warning that you're not going to have a long, hot shower while you're there. The pool was wonderful, just don't expect it to be pristine for very long. With the proximity of the beach and the great number of birds around it doesn't take long for the water to get a little dirty. Not dirty enough you can't use it, just don't expect it to be like the one in the last hotel you were in. The pool cleaner was supposed to come three times a week but he was very hit and miss and we were lucky if he was there once a week. The ocean is beautiful and warm and great for swimming in. The beach can be a little busy as the house is situated in the area the local fishermen use to store and sell their fish. We quite enjoyed this though and were soon waving good morning and good evening to them as they left and came back.

We wanted to hire a cook and a maid for our stay there and were told that there was a couple living right on the property and the woman would cook and clean for us. Unfortunately, there was such a language barrier that we never came to an understanding as to the cooking. This was as much my fault as anyone as I wanted my Spanish to be a little better than it was when we got there. She did an excellent job of cleaning whenever we asked her though. She will even take your laundary and have it done and delivered back to you.

Everyone in the town was very friendly. There are a couple of really nice restaurants only a few blocks away and a number of little shops and liquor stores. I would recommend having a car, although the public transportation looked pretty reliable.

I really can't think of anything bad to say about the place, we really didn't want to leave when it was time to go home. It was probably the most relaxing vacation we've ever had.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, sight seeing
