vacation rental description
This Mediterranean-style home with a view of Alcatraz lies right in the center of the fashionable Marina district, just one block from the expansive Marina Green and its walkways along the bay, and just two blocks from lively Chestnut Street and its shops and restaurants. Built on three levels at the apex of a three-street intersection, the unique layout of this home allows every room to have lots of natural light. The home is well decorated with lively colors and tasteful art.
The central location in a relatively flat section of San Francisco enables visitors to either walk or bike to Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Mason, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Exploratorium, chic Union Street, the boats surrounding the San Francisco Yacht Club, the renovated beach recreation area of Crissy Field, the promenade to Golden Gate Bridge, as well as the Presidio. The house itself has views of Alcatraz while from the bay just a block away one can appreciate vast vistas of the entire region north of San Francisco.
The house can accommodate a large family even as its three levels allow for separate "play areas" for some sense of internal privacy. The garage is fully outfitted with a foosball table and a ping-pong table. Bicycles and rollerblades are available.

activities and attractions in San Francisco San Francisco Bay Area
There’s a lively morning exercise scene along the Marina Green and the Crissy Field promenade at the western end of the main Marina. This promenade continues all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, and there is a nice coffee / gift shop, the “Warming Hut,” as you get closer to the bridge. The nearby Palace of Fine Arts (the only remnant of the 1916 Pan-American Exposition) and the small lake alongside it is always a joy to walk through and around, and the Exploratorium museum inside the adjacent building offers great hands-on science experiences for kids and adults alike. The Walt Disney Family Museum recently opened in the adjoining Presidio; it does a great job in showing the ambition and achievements of the man who transformed animation. To the east, you can take a path through the park around Fort Mason (just on the other side of the Safeway store) and, following the coastline, go down a steep hill and arrive directly at Ghirardelli Square, the Cannery, and the rest of Fisherman’s Wharf, where tour boats to Alcatraz (among other places) can be taken.
There are lots of restaurants along Chestnut Street (about 3 blocks south of the house), on Fillmore Street between Lombard and Union, and even more along Union Street (another 3-4 blocks past Chestnut) to the east of Fillmore.
The area on Fillmore between Lombard and Union is pretty active at night with bars and nightclubs. A wine bar on Chestnut (at Pierce) also has become popular.
