vacation rental description

Ship 2 Shore is an extraordinary beach house! Our home sits directly on the white sandy beach.  Expansive water views from every room in the home, including all of the 6 bedrooms.

Our spectacular home was recently remodeled and redecorated, with an eye to creating a casual seaside atmosphere. Located in the exclusive section of The Point where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Bay, this is one of the few homes privileged to have the pristine sand beaches of the Gulf in the backyard and the cyrstal blue waters of the Bay in the front yard.

Perfect for any occasion, this extra-special, two story beach house boasts 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 kitchens, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas, and breathtaking views of the Gulf and Bay from every room.

Guests are welcome to fish from the 300’ private dock or tie your boat off to the anchor buoy located adjacent to the dock. There are 3 boat ramps on Alligator Point. The rental includes use of the mooring anchor buoy.

We are proud that everyone refers to our home, as the nicest beach house on The Point.

4 sets of french doors open to the gulf, immaculate heart pine floors throughout. High end linens and down pillows on every bed. Not a detail was overlooked.

It's a very special place.....

Our 4800sf home lays out as follows:
Upstairs:

Master bedroom (captains quarters) has a king bed, private bath, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with unimaginable gulf frontage and windows with views of the bay.  Fall asleep listening the the waves lapping on the beach.

Admirals quarters has a queen bed, french doors which open to the Gulf Porch with the same gulf frontage as the Master, windows with views of the bay.  Artwork commissioned by local artists.

Skippers quarters has a queen bed, amazing views of both the gulf and the bay.  Artwork commissioned by local artists.

Crews quarters has 2 twin beds, set in bahama style with a custom built table between.  Breathtaking views of the gulf and the bay.

Living room has overstuffed down filled furniture, complimented with nautical theme decorations, mozaic glass tile fireplace, sea glass, mahogany ships wheel, oars, etc.  Despite the upscale quality of the furnishings and artwork - our home has conquered the challenge of retaining the coveted "beach house" feel.  Very inviting, casual and extremely comfortable.

The dining room is comprised of a solid wood table, with 8 chairs.  The kitchen bar seats 4.  As most meals are served famiy style, on the Gulf Porch, there is a brand new teak table, which seats 12 comfortably.

The kitchen has everything, and I mean everything.  All hand tools(for those of you that cook, we even have a lemon zester) Crab/lobster pots, roasting pans, poultry racks, blenders, crock pots, blenders, cast iron skillets, pans of every dimension, warming trays and even..... a George Forman grill (which I have no idea how it arrived there :)

On the Bay side of the house, we have a large covered porch (25'x25')

The Gulf Porch is covered and screened, it's 48' x 12'.  It has the super long teak table.  5 rocking chairs, a teak couch w/ teak occassional tables, and..... everyone's favorite.... the 2 person quilted hammock.  This porch is everyone's favorite place to hang out.

Just off the Gulf Porch is what we call the "Sunset Deck".  Thirty years ago, I would have called it the "Sun Bathing Porch", and my kid's call it the "Dolphin Watching Porch".  Definately my favorite place to watch the stars at night.    We have a high powered telescope for viewing our amazing stars and the milkyway.

Schools of dolphin swim by at least 2 times per day - and occassionally you will find them swimming around the dock.

We achieved our goal of creating the "feel" of the downstairs to be "'ole Florida rambling beach house".  It has 2 bedrooms/1 bath, a morning kitchen, a living room and a ping-pong table.  It lays out as follows....

The downstairs is ground floor (beach level!!!)  and was designed, so that everyone on the beach could come in and out with ease.  The floors are beach proof! (- no sand or water worries :)

There is a morning kitchen downstairs, with a fridge/ice maker.

How cool is that - you can walk right in from the beach grab a bevearge, make a cocktail or sandwich, go to the bathroom--- all without going upstairs.

Downstairs has 2 bedrooms:  The Beach Room which has a full size bed and eye level views of the beach, and the Bunk room (Pirates Quarters) which has 1 set of bunk beds. (2 twins stacked).  We built the room so the little tikes in the bunk beds could fall asleep watching the stars.

There is another covered porch downstairs, with a teak table that seats at least 10.  There is also a teak porch swing and a covered sand play area which is great for when the kids have had too much sun.

Downstairs living room has 2 sofas with cushioned wicker chairs, atop jute carpets.  Aside of the living room is the ping-pong area, with a full size regulation table.

What key features make our beach house stand out among the others??????

Elevation - Our "upstairs"  is just 12 stairs from the sand to our home.   And our "downstairs" is ground level.  Most of the neighboring beach rentals are 25 feet in the air - thats approximately 33 stairs to climb.  Going to the beach should not be an aerobic event.

Elevator - I learned this lesson when I rented my first beach house, I spent hours lugging suitcases, groceries, coolers, baggage, parents and kids up 2 flights of stairs!  With an elevator, just load 'em all in the elevator and press UP!

Boardwalk to Beach - many beach houses just have a beaten path through the beach scrub and over the dunes, which is difficult and  uncomfortable. Our home has a wide boardwalk directly to the sand-barefeet are safe all the way to the beach.

If you're looking for the "home away from home" vacation , and you want it to be simple and carefree- our home is for you.
