vacation rental description

Perfect house, perfect location. This beautiful, cozy and affordable 100 yr old luxury adobe is completely remodeled with historic touches and charm. Located in a desirable historic neighborhood in the heart of downtown, it is only a one-minute and five-minute walk, respectively, to the shops, galleries, and many favorite Santa Fe eateries of the Guadalupe/Railroad and Plaza districts. Yet, it is remarkably quiet and private. With 1400-square feet, well-separated bedrooms,  a day bed for children, a fully equipped office, full kitchen and dining area, it is big enough to provide privacy for up to two couples and their children, but small enough to feel intimate and homey to a single person or couple.

house rental amenities

The long list of the desirable/designer amenities include: gorgeous diamond plaster walls, hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings, great lighting, authentic kiva fireplace, air conditioning, wireless internet access, printer/fax, 2 flat-screen HDTV’s w/ cable and DVD players, stereo center w/ CD player, 2 iPOD docking stations, luxury linens, ceiling fans, separate office with desk, phone, beautiful furnishings, rugs, and artwork, and so much more.

The state-of-the-art kitchen has a total upgrade package that features stainless-steel appliances, silestone counters, and a copper sink. Service for 8 includes all of the appliances and utensils you need to cook and serve a gourmet dinner. The sun-filled, inviting dining area seats as many as 8 people and yet is intimate enough for 2.

The two beautifully decorated bedrooms have a king and queen-size bed, with ample drawer and closet space. One bathroom has a marble vessel sink and shower/bathtub for a relaxing soak after a long day. The second bath has a stone sink and a large, walk-in shower with glass doors.

Enjoy the Santa Fe weather on the front porch or in the large enclosed private, professionally landscaped back courtyard that has both sunny and shady areas. The yard also has a gas grill and lots of lawn furniture, including a dining table with a large tilt umbrella for added shade. The private driveway fits up to four cars, which means that parking - a prized commodity in Santa Fe - is never an issue.

The old adobe walls are great insulators of both sound and temperature. Despite being less than two blocks from the bustling parts of town, the inside of the house and even the backyard are remarkably quiet, allowing for wonderful, relaxing sleep and private, intimate gatherings. The house stays at a comfortable temperature during most summer days, although those guests who are most comfortable at cooler temperatures or who would prefer not to open the windows at night can adjust the temperature to their individual needs with the quiet 4-zone air conditioning system.

You will especially appreciate the privacy and quiet that our house offers. Because the house is detached and is surrounded by high fences and adobe walls, it does not have the problems of noise created by encroaching neighbors that occur in most downtown Santa Fe casitas, condos, and hotels.

The diamond plaster walls, arches, original historic windows, and many other decorative touches and finishes give the feel of a past era. Yet, our house is neither pretentious nor funky. Our own previous experiences staying in rentals in Santa Fe taught us that old Santa Fe charm often comes with either a very high price tag or the cost of being shabby and rundown. This affordable, newly renovated house has neither.

This house includes the luxurious features of a top-rated hotel, but after a long day enjoying the beauty of Santa Fe or surrounding areas you will come home to your own private comfortable oasis that is just steps to dozens of Santa Fe's top-rated restaurants. And all this is at prices that are lower than most single hotel rooms in town.

We loved this home away from home in Santa Fe! It was perfect and within walking distance of everything! It was great to have the binder full of good information about dining, entertainment, etc. The kitchen and back patio were super...just wish we would have done some cooking at the house, but there were too many restaurants to explore!

Excellent Location & Very Comfortable House

Review submitted: June 13, 2013   Date of arrival: June 6, 2013

The house was well-suited to two couples with plenty of privacy - - two bedrooms and modern bathrooms. It was an easy walk to most downtown locations as described in the listing. The photos accurately portray the home's furnishings. The property was well cleaned prior to arrival. Susan was helpful in further describing the house and its location as well as making recommendations for attractions and dining. There is also a binder in the house of helpful instructions, maps, attractions and dining options. We would strongly recommend this house to friends or relatives.
The dining options are too numerous to list but Pascual's, Santacafe and the bar at the Inn of the Anasazi are among the many standouts. We enjoyed the Georgia O'Keefe Museum as well as the New Mexico Art Museum. We made a day-trip to Taos taking the High Road going and the very long way around returning - - I wouldn't necessarily put Taos at the top of the list if your time is constrained. When coming from ABQ, first time visitors may want to travel to Santa Fe by the Turquoise Trail.
As a recommendation for visitors to this or any house on VRBO, keep in mind the next visitors when purchasing staples and other items. Don't skimp. You will be rewarded when arriving by high quality goods and, ideally, the next visitor will have the same experience.

Very nice place within short walking distance to plaza. We rented this place for a fraction of the cost that our friends paid for an upscale hotel room & we felt that we had the better accommodations.
