quick facts

vacation rental description

If you are an Eleuthera adventurer, the kind of person who wants to rent a real beach house at a very reasonable rate, you love being able to feel breeze, hear the surf, soak up a sunrise, and are a traveler who is looking for comfort instead of fancy, you have found the right house! Located in a beautifully remote area, the beach is just a stone's throw away (200 steps to be exact). The house is furnished with guests' needs in mind. There are plenty of reading lamps, artistic hand-made furniture, and additional comforts throughout the house. There is one bedroom (king size bed; the house sleeps two), a full bath, living room/kitchen, a  patio on the east side, and a large deck on the west side. Completely remodeled in 2004,  the walls are cypress and the flooring is beautiful Brazilian walnut. The high ceilings, exposed beams, and glass at both eaves gives the house an airy tropical feeling. You can see the stars while you lie in the bed at night! There is a fabulous rope hammock on the west deck and a barbecue pit on the east side patio. You will also find a sturdy outdoor dining table and four adirondack chairs on the decks.

If you are a wave watcher, you will enjoy looking into the curl of the waves while you prepare meals or relax in the living room. You may find yourself spending a lot of time on the living room sofa gazing at the amazing ocean! Surfing in Eleuthera is awesome. Surfer's Beach and Hatchet Bay are within easy driving distance.

There are four other beaches within 1.5 miles of the house. If you enjoy collecting shells or seaglass, you're in the right place. When the Atlantic is calm, the swimming and snorkeling is perfect at Hidden Cove Beach. In fact, we haven't found a better place yet for snorkeling than the one closest to the house! If you like tennis, there are tennis courts beside Rainbow Inn which you can enjoy.  If one ocean is rough, just hop over to the other side.  Because the island is so skinny in this part of the island, it's a five minute drive from one side of the island to the other.

To help keep our island home in good shape, our gardener lives on the property in separate accommodations (with his own private entrance).  Described by one guest as 'having a 1,000 watt smile, he is employed by many of the homeowners in Rainbow Bay.  Completely unobtrustive, he is there should you have a problem or need help with something.  Our caretaker, a delightful lady, lives in Palmetto Point and is just a phone call away.

The best thing about the Seaglass Cottage is hearing the surf, feeling the cool breeze, seeing a gorgeous sunset off the west deck, and knowing that you're miles and miles away from 'reality'. You do not have to spend a fortune to do this! We enjoy going to the beach and want our house to have the feel of an authentic beach house as opposed to a house that could be located just about anywhere and filled with trendy stuff! There are plenty of windows in the house (the screens are new) and the seabreeze, almost always blowing through the house, is delightful! Also, if you like art, the house is filled with tropical creations crafted from treasures found on the beach. Should you need assistance during your visit, our gardener and caretaker will be available to help you.

To date, over 800 people have visited Seaglass Cottage.  Read the guest journal when you arrive.  It's full of suggestions for your island itinerary and contains reviews of all the restaurants.  Please Google "Seaglass Cottage Bahamas" to find the link to our personal website.  There you will see more information and photographs.

traveler reviews for this bahamas cottage rental

Amazing !!!

Review submitted: August 17, 2011   Date of arrival: May 1, 2011

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in the cottage May 2011. Being from the Northeast and living on the water this little gem was right up our alley. The house has everything you would need as if it was your own home. The house is very comfortable, and cozy.. With all the windows open after a day of exploring, the wind is awsome blowing throught the house as you enjoy your favorite drink and sift through all your treasures in the spaciouse kitchen. (of coarse listening to one of the many island Cd's in the house). The people in Eleuthera are very freindly and laid back, we made many freinds during our stay. Charter fishing with Captain "Z", whome we meet at the Rainbow Inn, in my opinion the best food on the island. What else can i say except we loved Eleuthera and the Seaglass Cottage so much we booked two weeks in May 2012.......... Can't wait !!!!! Marc & Jackie

Relax and enjoy the views

My wife and i spend a week at the Seaglass Cottage on Feb 2011.
The experience was fantastic! The house it's beautiful and perfect for a couple looking for an escape from everything.
Kitchen it's fully equipped with everything you may need and more. You can cook there like you do in your own home. The living room is Big and has greatest views of the Atlantic. We loved to make our favorites drinks and enjoy watching and listening the ocean. The Master bedroom (and the bed) are huge and of course it's plenty of windows so you never miss the ocean view. It's really much much better than the pictures.
The house is centrally located so you can explore all the beautiful beaches across the island and then come back to relax and chill in a perfect place.
The owner was really easy to deal with and answered all the questions we had about the house, the place, food, car... everything.
We really enjoyed the island, the lonely secluded beaches and specially the seaglass cottage. Very confy, functional, with all the appliances that one can need, and of course the views!!!
It's a great place to enjoy and relax. A perfect vacation rental.

If you find some grammar errors, please forgive my english. My first language is Spanish.

My BF & I spent a week at Seaglass cottage and we had a wonderful time, the house is perfect for a couple wanting a romantic getaway. The master bedroom has the most comfortable bed ever and great views of the ocean. There is a full bath, living room/kitchen area with plenty of room and the kitchen has everything you could want and more, even an ice cream machine! The house is decorated thru out in true island fashion with water color paintings, mosaics, decorative tiles, & mobiles of beach treasures and handmade furniture by the owners, making it a pleasure to either stay at home or come home after a day of exploring. If you want to stay at home and read a book there are many, also a BBQ and a wonderful deck with 4 adironak chairs and a table to match. Hidden beach is a short walk away and has great snorkeling and treasure hunting, across to the other side of the island is Rainbow beach a short 5 minute drive and the Rainbow Inn ( really good food) where Dr. Seabreeze may be playing, a must not miss. The cottage is centrally located for sightseeing and has the best gardener in the area, who will great you with one of the best and most welcoming smiles I have ever seen, he is a true gem. The price is certainly right for everything you get, like keeping candy from a baby, (which they don't need, you do). I highly recommend staying here for a true and special island getaway! Deb & Mark
