We have tried to make our home nice for you. Every trip we do more & more. We challenge you to find a better vacation rental for the money. Our view is awesome & we are right on the ocean not just a view of the ocean. We hope someday you may want to visit our little paradise here. One thing I should talk about is the weather here. It is 85 degrees every day of the year with tradewinds that keep it comfortable. It is one of the rare places on this planet that is a 12 month of the year destination. It pretty much rains just a little everyday. Just enough to freshen everything. This is why all the plants are so green & lush. Last but not least is to mention the sound of the ocean at night. It is incredible. It lulls you to sleep. What a couple of recent guests have told us- Hector Herrera from Scotch Plains, New Jersey who stay in June 2003 "My family & I loved your house. It was in a convenient location & had a beautiful view. My father enjoyed waking up early & going for a swim on our secluded beach. Again, thank you for your hospitality" Jackie Acevedo from Chicago who also stayed in June 2003 "We had a lovely time. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We did a lot of sight seeing so we were only at the house early in the morning or at night" Bill Knocke from San Dimas,Ca.stayed July 2003 "Thanks,my friends loved the place especially Bambie & Rex.They must have gained a few pounds. We will be happy to recommend your home. The drivers there have no rules. Thanks for being so prompt regarding the security deposit." Hector Alvarez from Virginia stayed August 2003 "We enjoyed our stay very much-Thank you" David Parkinson from New Jersey stayed in Jan.2004 with 10 people "As for your house in Dorado, all I can say is beautiful. Our group walked into your house & absolutely fell in love with it. The view from the roof is spectacular & was a popular spot for morning coffee. We all had a wonderful time & even had a marriage engagement between my brother-in-law & his girlfriend. Thank you very much & I hope to be back soon." Harry Costas from Las Vegas stayed feb.2004 "It was great meeting you in person. I wanted to tell you we had a wonderful time in Puerto Rico & enjoyed staying at your fabulous home. We hope next time we get to spend more time there. Everything was great & will even recommend it to our friends" The Smiths & the Schmidts from British Columbia, Canada stayed Feb.2004 "We enjoyed our stay. We will tell our Canadian friends.Best wishes" Nahil Barakat from Virginia stayed March 2004 "Thank you very much-the house was fine & your managers were really good & professional" John & Mary Dill from Kansas stayed March 2004 "Thanks for the welcome home note. We really did enjoy our Puerto Rico vacation. The best part was the accomidations. Everything was just as you described, even the neighborhood. We explored the island during the day & always looked forward to coming back to the beautiful home on the ocean. We enjoy cooking & everything was in the kitchen to do so. I am a basketball fan & had no idea I'd be able to watch the NCAA games. the cable is a big plus. Mary would read on the top balcony during game time & listen to the cocee frogs. We always felt safe in your island home. We had a great time & thoroughly enjoyed the use of your home. It made our vacation perfect. We hope things work out for a return visit. Thanks for everything" Danielle McCarthy from Chicago stayed March 2004 "We had a wonderful time in Dorado. The house was great-exacly what our group wanted. Norma & Edgar are fantastic. They were the perfect welcome committee. Thanks again" John & June Caldwell-Orange,CT.-Stayed April 2004 "We enjoyed staying in your Dorado home immensely-we were pleasantly surprised by the ample room in the unit & the comfort of the mattress. We appreciated having cable. The location in Dorado turned out to be a real plus as we were midway between the old city & the national forest on the east end & the caves & radio telescope to the west-all of which we visited & enjoyed. The busy east coast is certainly less attractive than the north central location of your home. We found the home ideal for our use & a great value for the money. Thanks for letting us share your friendly island. Norma & Edgar were very nice to us. We had a great time & thank you again" Grinberg family from Gaithersburg,MD-stayed April 2004 "Everything was great. We enjoyed our stay in your house very much. We've been very happy with our choice of Puerto Rico as a vacation destination & Dorado in particular (we did not like the southern part of the island as much) I think we will consider going there again next year. Thank you & happy Easter" Sharon Tucker & the Andes class of 2004 from Andes,NY-April 2004 "We loved the house & had the time of our lives. Thank you so much. A few of the students are all ready to move to Puerto Rico. The thing I loved the most was waking up in the morning, going out on the deck & saying "WOW" it is gorgeous out...because it was beautiful every morning. The dogs were great & Norma & Edgar were very helpful. I would love to bring my family sometime soon. Thanks again with love" Linda & Pete from Atlanta, Georgia-stayed April 2004 "Thank you very much for letting us stay in your beautiful house. We enjoyed every minute of our vacation" Christine & Leon from Richmond, VA-stayed May 2004 "We enjoyed your home very much. It is comfortable & beautiful. We got everything we could need. The other thing we loved is that it is in a local neighborhood so we had a chance to see how local people live. We enjoyed every moment when we stayed there. Edgar & Norma are great. Thanks again" More recent comments posted on our site-also we have a frequently asked question section along with the rental agreement.please e-mail us & I will give you our website for more pictures & information- Vacation Rental AmenitiesWe are right on the ocean with a 70x90 fenced yard on a cliff with a magnificent view of the ocean-we have a cement bar bq & the surfer beach is only a block away plus there are beaches are all over. We are not in an expensive resort area but in a safe local neighborhood with friendly long term owners. Dorado is a half hour to an hour (depending on traffic) drive from San Juan & the airport. It is 20 miles away & all freeway. There are 2 beautiful Hyatt resorts & an Embassy Suites resort only 5-10 minutes away. The new Walgreens & Grande market are 5 minutes away. There are many fine restaurants & world class golfing nearby. If you look at a map you can see that Dorado is very central. You can go all around the island with not too much trouble. Puerto Rico has modern roads & the signs are easy to follow. Our 1 bedroom upper can sleep 5 people. 2 in the bedroom. 1 in the twin couch bed & 2 in our full size roll-a-way bed------ Our 2 bedroom on the main floor can sleep 5 people. 2 in each bedroom & 1 in our twin roll-a-way bed--- Our basement bedroom can sleep 3(basement does not have a/c but made comfortable with a large ceiling & floor fan)we have just added a micro-wave & little refrigerator to our basement-also has a private bath-queen size bed-a twin bed-table & 4 chairs-2 couches-tv with vhs tape player-hair dryer-clock radios-private entrance-we just added glass block windows & a humidex system(for humidity)-not fancy, but comfortable-we stayed there- We now offer free internet for your laptop in both units. We also have a vhs tape library & HBO in each unit for your enjoyment. Activities and AttractionsPuerto Rico has many activities. you will never be bored. we have beaches all around us within easy walking distance. There is the surfer beach 1 block west & there is the "eye of the bull" lagoon which is 2 blocks east. Rex & sometimes even Foxie will walk with you. we just brought bambi home with us- The people of puerto Rico are very warm & friendly. They want tourists there. In the over 22 years that we have been going to puerto rico we have never had a bad experience. No one was ever even rude to us. Most people speak english. Its all american currency. you do not need a passport coming from the states. there is Gambling at the big hotels in san juan & other cities- The highway system is great (lots of traffic) I hear they call Puerto Rico 'tropical new york'.Plaza las Americas is a world class mall with 300 stores including sear's,penny's & macy's & its only about a 20 minute drive from our home. A lot of history & charm make Puerto Rico what it is. A beautiful paradise. Pick up a good map at Walgreens & take a ride thru the mountains. It is awesome. From Dorado to Ponce it takes about 3 hours. Do not go at night. Too many drop offs & you can not appreciate the magnificent views. We will go thru the mountains & come back by the freeway towards Caguas. Go to Rincon to watch the whales, sunset & surfers. Go to the caves(an experience) Go see the rainforest. Go to Vieques on a $2 ferry. Go to old San Juan on a 50 cent ferry. Get a couple of free drinks & a tour at Bacardi. Go to Isle Verde & Condado (just like being in Miami)I could go on & on. At our home I have a book of things to do. Or do nothing. Just watch the gorgeous ocean from our home. Do some bar bq, sit on our front porch & have a margarita. Going to Puerto Rico is a real adventure like no where else. There is a joke about driving here-In the United States they drive on the right-In St.Thomas they drive on the left-But in Puerto Rico they drive all over. Vacation Rental Rates$100 a day ($125-christmas) for each unit plus we have an additional bedroom with a private bath in the basement for an extra $50 a day. There is a 7 day minimum. If you take both units there is a 5 day minimum. We require a $500 security/damage deposit per unit that is fully refundable. If you leave the home as you found it (clean & laundry done) there will not be a $100 cleaning fee per unit.We would like for you to come to a clean & equipped home & leave a clean & equipped home.We have to do this to keep the price affordable. Please no smoking in the home. Smoking permitted on the balconies, the front porch, roof top terrace & in the yard. We don't like smoke & our future guests don't either- - We also have nice managers Edgar & Norma. We have had them for over 2 years now- . They speak english & spanish fluently & live close by. One of them will be meeting you in Dorado & bringing you to our home. A footnote...95% of our guests have been very happy staying at our home. The 5% who were not are people who thought they were going to a $300-$500 a day resort. We are not an expensive hotel or private resort. Our home is not spotless (it is clean but the ocean breeze brings a lot of dust) Our home is not perfect (hard to be perfect on the ocean. Things rust & deteriorate very fast because of the salt) We just want everyone to be realistic in their expectations of our beautiful home. Remember that you get what you pay for. If you demand perfection, this is not going to be for you.Our home is for people who want to experience the real Puerto Rico(not just some fancy resort or hotel) People who have a little adventure in their heart & want to do something completely different & not spend a lot of money doing so. We have no roosters next door(block away) but we do have an occasional dog barking at the moon. hey guys-we are a beach house--not the Ritz-We just had another problem guest who shopped around & found that we were the most reasonable vacation rental in puerto rico for what we offered- Then they complained because of a power outage & sometimes low water pressure-maybe you won't have hot water if there is no sun (solar)- maybe you may hear construction workers-You might see a bug-you might see some dirt-You might see some junky houses-this is the caribbean & things like this happens-please, if you can't handle a little inconvenience, go to a hotel & pay the price-We plan on moving to our home & started some construction which has been stopped(permit problem)-so you may see our yard looking a bit messy-this will not interfere with your stay- Al & I both work from our home. We are pretty easy to reach by e-mail or phone. You should get a response back from us pretty quick regarding the availability of the 2 units. Regarding e-mailing us---if you have a block or a filter on your incoming e-mail it is impossible for us to e-mail you back-Thats the problem with blocks-Just want you to be aware of this situation- thanks
