quick facts

vacation rental description

Escape frenetic city life to the serenity of heron and osprey calls, sunset over Little Assawoman Bay (literally, your back yard) with panoramic Bay views from balconies on 3 levels-- YET-- just across the street from the pounding surf of the most desirable (remote) section of the Delaware State Park seashore (there is even smallish ocean view on that side of the house).

This ideal 3-4 bedroom hideaway in desirable King’s Grant is on a unique barrier island at the nexus of the Atlantic Ocean and Little Assawoman Bay-- at this point only a few hundred yards apart.  In almost no other venue on either coast is there such direct access to both.

At your doorstep and literally in front and under your balconies is the Bay, with views of numerous islands and wetlands, with its attendant wildlife--and the pier for your use for boating, crabbing or just swinging your legs.  The pool, just steps from your door, is ON THE BAY with stunning views and breezes for swimming, reading or just contemplation.

And just cross the two lane road to the walkway over the most significant dunes in the 20+ mile stretch of beach from Rehoboth to Ocean City.  Unlike the other towns, Fenwick Island has always protected its dunes from over-development and they are of a size and wildness rarely seen, with 75 acres of protected (undeveloped) dunes and beach for 2.5 miles, beginning literally a few feet from your crossover at the far end of King’s Grant.

Stroll the miles of broad beach and Cape Cod style dunes with the ocean on one side and the bay on the other, counting the pods of dolphin (over 300,000 of them make this area their summer home) who frequently come into the breakers area to say hello and put on a show with their acrobatics.

Situated on the last pristine beach in the Mid-Atlantic region with
protected acreage buffering you in both directions, this is the
essence of the Quiet Resort of residential (unincorporated) Fenwick
Island. You can swim in the ocean or the pool, body surf and boogie board, kayak on the bay or with the dolphins in the ocean, crab or take prized photographs from the pier, fish from either the pier or in the ocean surf across the street, or walk 2+ miles north on an unobstructed protected
beach with dunes on one side and ocean on the other til you reach South
Bethany. All without getting in a car.

And bring your dog, to walk or to swim in the surf, because this area
of beach is one of the very few in the nation that permits dogs on
the beach 365 days a year, 24 hrs per day (on leash, of course). And
well behaved dogs are welcome in this house (only one at a time please) where the new bamboo floors are indestructible, as well as charming.

Located 1 mile from Fenwick Island town, 2 miles from South
Bethany, and 2 miles from the action of Ocean City, this 3-4 bedroom, 3.5
bath townhouse is part of the premier King’s Grant association.

Sleeping 8 (not including couches), this house is ideal for a family (one species or two), for 2-3 couples or for a small "circle of friends" to spend a relaxing week away from it all. Improvements made in winter 2010 include new expanded screened in lower deck and much larger open upper deck; all new doors, sliders and windows, and new siding and front porch deck.

High speed wireless access means you can stay in touch while counting the herons and egrets in the bay on one of the three decks.
And you will snack, drink and be merry on the decks, dine with full bay views (and make full use of the gas barbeque grill).

This house is fully furnished, including complete cook’s kitchen, a desk in the 4th bedroom/den on the ground floor, and two queen beds, pair of twins and euro sofabed in den sleeps two. In addition to its proximity to Bethany and Ocean City, with its Boardwalk and kids' activities, this beach hideaway is 25 min to Rehoboth, with its sophisticated nightlife and shopping (and tax free outlets).

Direct Bay front with unobstructed views north and south and west, as well as a small ocean view from the front of the house.  King’s Grant has both a pier on the bay and a crosswalk over the dunes to the beach (right across the street) . Little Assawoman Bay provides opportunities for kite
sailing, wind surfing, boating, fishing, kayaking, clamming or
crabbing. And of course, beachcombing, hiking, biking, bird
watching, sightseeing/shopping, fine and casual dining and nightlife,
amusement parks and miniature golf are all available nearby.

traveler reviews for this fenwick island townhome rental

splendid week at the beach

Marty (Washington DC)
Review submitted: July 15, 2010   Date of arrival: July 4, 2010

This property is absolutely worth investigating. Ideal location (accurately described above) in an uncrowded northern strip of Fenwick Island. Ocean beach was always uncrowded, clean, and welcoming for both humans and pets. On very hot days, or as a retreat for reading and dozing with restrooms close by, the pool is an attractive option. Close to amenities, but not caught up in honky-tonk frenzy. The unit is comfortably set up and furnished, lacking only a screened porch. We kayaked on the bay and appreciated the panoramic bay views and sunsets. Great for a multi-generation family that enjoys each other.

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly
