CALYPSO- Island Home-Quiet Beach in Palm Island

• Bring your own boat or drive your car onto our island ferry for a 5 minute ride across the intracoastal waterway.  Once on the island, drop your worries and absorb Florida in it's more natural state.  There are about 7 miles of unspoiled white sandy beaches here just waiting for your toes. Stop at the market before you get here as there are no stores on the island. Most transportation here is by gulf cart.  There is a waterfront restaurant on the island for dining out.  There are also several nearby restaurants (some waterfront) if cooking in my very contemporary maple kitchen isn't your thing. The islanders are friendly and many have been here for decades.  Waving hello is an island custom so don't be surprised.  This is a place to recharge tired batteries and rediscover what is important to you.  We've never had a visitor who wasn't enchanted and we've never seen a kid who can't find a thing to do. 

This home sits at the end of a long beach sand road so privacy is assured.  There is almost 4000 s.f. of  a/c living space to spread out in.  The home's main floor is upstairs and has a great room with electric fireplace, formal dining room, reading room and 3 bedrooms.  You can watch the boats go by from several rooms in the house.  The main level has maple cabinets and hardwood floors.  The master suite has a bath and a half (for those who love to read) and a king sized bed.  The guest wing at the opposite end of the house has 2 bedrooms and a bath.  Both bedrooms have daybeds with trundles.   There is a 42" flat screen in the great room and a variety of other TVs in all bedrooms but one. Downstairs is the game area with a movie room, game tables, a 65 " big screen tv and a wet bar.  There is alson a queen sized sleigh bed in the movie room.  You can use the canoe or light a fire in the chimenea at night.  Take your honey and a cocktail to the beach for a spectacular sunset. Our beaches are mostly empty and you can find shark teeth and unbroken shells at various times of the year.

Most of the activities here are free.  Swimming, fishing from the dock, canoing, watching the sun set, reading, bird watching, yacht watching, lighting the chimenea, playing foosball, playing air hockey, putting on the small green out back all can be done onsite.  There is a basketball hoop at the firestation down the road you can use. For the inside guest, we have some board games, free wi/fi, cable tv, and of course, the WII game console.  Groceries are 5 miles away.  There are several golf courses within 3 miles of here (yep, that's what I said).  In the spring you can charter a fishing trip for tarpon in Boca Grande Pass just down the highway. 

Holidays are higher.  We charge less for couples only and for longer term rentals.  This is because there is less wear and tear on the home.  Three night minimum rent.  We also don't allow pets.  My son is allergic to dogs and we do use the home.  There is no smoking unless you are outside. EMAIL FOR APRIL/MAY 2010 WEEKLY SPECIALS!!!
