traveler reviews for this keuka lake house rental

Vintage charm and gorgeous decks!

Review submitted: September 14, 2013   Date of arrival: August 10, 2013

When my husband and I were looking for cottage on Keuka lake, we wanted something with character and that also had great access to the water.

Three Sisters delivered admirably. Ken, the owner, was very easy to work with and answered questions promptly via email or phone prior to our arrival. When we arrived, the cottage was in good condition for us to start our vacation. One suggestion: a sheet explaining a few things like how to operate the gas fireplace, etc would be so helpful. Cell service can be spotty in this area. The photos included with the listing were accurate and helpful.

The property sits adjacent to the Keuka Yacht Club, so in the evening, when they have all gone home it is very quiet. We liked that the cottage was not crammed right next to neighboring house on the other side. Plenty of space.

The decks are phenomenal! They are right over the water, allowing you to jump in (there's also a spot to wade in - but bring shoes - it's rocky!). Lots of room to spread out. There is also an outdoor shower and an upper deck off the master bedroom.

Inside was old-school charming. Cozy, comfortable and had all the necessities. Nothing fancy here - but we didn't want fancy. We spent the most time on the screened porch overlooking the deck and the lake. Amazing. The beds are adequate. Probably should be replaced fairly soon, but they were fine. Again, we viewed this as a cottage vacation from the old days where there were some quirks, rather than a luxury resort where every whim is granted.

As the previous review mentioned, there is no A/C. We were lucky and had a mild week so were fine with fans.

The house is reached by going down stairs (typical for many of the cottages on Keuka). The stairs here were in good condition and the parking easily held 3 cars. Those with limited mobility probably would have difficulties here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Three Sisters"!

Great Fun

Review submitted: August 13, 2012   Date of arrival: August 14, 2011

We stayed there last summer and had a blast. My kids said it is the best vacation we have ever taken and we have been to Disney World and the Grand Canyon. They enjoyed it better than those places. It was great fun boating on the lake! I would recommend bringing a portable air condition during the hottest part of the summer. That was the only draw back. It was unseasonably hot when we went and it was uncomfortable at night because of the heat. Our actual stay was July 17, 2011 but it was saying it was too far in the past.
