vacation rental description
Lovely, authentic cedar log cabin, meticulously built in the 1960s. Enlarged in 2008 by award-winning Philadelphia architect .Beautiful glass and red fir common room connects the old and new. Cabin sits on a ledge accross the street from working lobster boat docks and harbor, with water view and wooded, 3/4 acre lot behind, with extra parking.
Town is a village, and is 15 minutes from Rockland, a town of 7,000. Tenants Harbor is a working lobster village and a haven for artists of all media. The area has long been a home to generations of Wyeth artists who have painted many of its locations and landmarks.
Cabin is particularly well set-up for a two-family vacation. There are 2 bedrooms and a full bath in both the original cabin and the new addition. Both sides will accomodate 4 each in the bedrooms. There are two double futons in the loft/study in the newer wing that can accomodate at least 2 more. The loft is private and has lovely woods and water views.

Farmer-style antique wood table that can easily seat 10 for meals. 42" plasma satellite TV/radio, internet; new cell phone tower nearby. Remodeled kitchen with granite island and countertops; butcher block countertop section for chopping and processing cooked shellfish; Bosch professional-type gas range and dishwasher; espresso/coffee machines/ food processor and plenty of lobster-cooking and eating equipment; lots of wine glasses. Outdoor picnic table with water view; 2 mountain bikes supplied. All linens supplied. Cleaning service available upon leaving.

Working lobster docks to explore (and, often, to buy lobsters from directly from) ; nearby lobster shacks for Maine seafood meals; gourmet general store 5 minute walk; artists studios galleries. Marshall Point lighthouse, featured in Forest Gump 10 minutes; public flat beach, with great view of nearby islands, 10 minutes. Ferry to Monhegan Island from Port Clyde 12-15 minutes.
Great seafood of all types available nearby and seasonal agricultural products as well, including weekly farmers market in Rockland.
Visit Rockland, a lovely town with world class art museum (Farnsworth) and many good restaurants, 20 minutes. Camden, one of Maine's most picturesque towns and its state park with view of coastline 25 minutes; Thomaston and Maine state prison store, 20 minutes. Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, Staples and supermarkets in Rockland area. Hospital as well.
Area is "Wyeth country". Three generations of Wyeth artists have painted within in minutes of the cabin, and many sights are recognizable. Southern Island, once home of Andrew Wyeth and, now, studio of Jamie Wyeth, sits in Tenants Harbor's harbor and can be seen from the cabin.
Lots of summer festivals nearby: Rockland lobster festival; Blues Festival; Union blueberry fair, etc. etc. Antique shows and malls galore.
Guided sea kayaking for all levels of skill in Port Clyde.
