Dana Point is known for the Festival of Whales (March 6-7 Street fair, March 13-14 Parade) as well as the Tall Ships Festival (September 2010).  

The condo is located on the beach side of Pacific Coast Hwy. There are 2 entrances to the beach. As you enter the beach there is a wonderful Board Walk, for those who prefer not to get their feet sandy.  An open air elevator is available for disabled persons visiting the beach.  Pets are welcome on the board walk only (with a leash of course).  R.V. parking is also available on Selva in front of the condo units.

The Beach is Dana Strands, one of Southern California’s best beaches.  Dana Strands offers easy access with a private cove at one end and the world famous Ritz Carlton hotel at the other. The St. Regis hotel is 2 blocks away, with day spa facilities. The Meritage Resort is 2 miles north. It has breathtaking views and a public park / beach. Disneyland is 30 minutes north. Legoland, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park, and SeaWorld are all less than 50 minutes south. Local airport shuttles offer transportation to all main attractions (reservation required). Location could not be better.

Laguna Beach, just 4 miles north, is one of the more popular tourist destinations in Southern California. It is known for Art galleries, Restaurants and Shopping.  An art festival runs most of the summer (Mid June to end of August) and is open all day and evenings.  A free bus for Laguna Beach starts at 7th street and takes you to the festival. The ride on the open air bus is a plus and offers a tour of the town including fantastic views of the ocean.

If you choose not to rent a car while on vacation, the local bus stop is right on the corner. From here, you can go most anywhere. Dana Point & San Clemente are south. Laguna Beach, Newport Beach 20 minutes and Huntington Beach 40 minutes are north. The bus also services 3 great malls: Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills and the famous South Coast Plaza. All 3 offer movie theaters.
