vacation rental description
This delightful apartment in our home is quite a creative way to do the Windy City and the western suburban area inexpensively. It is probably more like a bed and breakfast situation, but instead, you do your own cooking and pack your own picnic lunches to take on your outings in your own beautiful new kitchen. Our home is in West Chicago, which is about 30 miles directly west of Chicago, and it takes about an hour to get downtown. We have an all brand new 1000 square foot apartment that is just waiting for couples or families who desire to see the sights of the Chicago area, but may not have the means or desire to stay in the big city. We are located in beautiful DuPage County and are located about 6 minutes from the train station where you can jump on at many different times during the day and ride downtown where you arrive at Ogilvie Station. For a week-end stay, you just get a $7/person week-end pass and take as many trips back and forth as you want to. For example, go downtown for the morning, come back to the apartment for a rest and some shopping on 3rd Street in Geneva, IL which is about 10 minutes away and then hop back on the train for an evening festival or theater performance or a spectacular fireworks display. The trip takes about one hour or less if you happen to be on an express train.
You can always drive yourself downtown if you prefer. This is a good idea especially if you desire to go to the Museum complex which is a distance from the train station. It is a beautiful walk along the Lake shore, but maybe not so delightful with young children. Driving downtown is a pretty easy, straightforward trip and not too crowded if you travel at an off-rush-hour time frame.
Besides going to the big city, there is a wealth of sites to see around the apartment. The Prairie Path is nearby where you can bike, jog, or walk for miles and miles. Cantigny War Museum and Gardens are nearby and there are two living history museums close at hand, Kline Creek Farm and Naper Settlement. We are about 20 minutes from the Morton Arboretum also. We have a vast variety of golf course very close by. These are just a few suggestions amongst many options.

apartment rental amenities
The apartment has its own exterior entrance leading to the interior stairs which take you up to the second story where the apartment is located. The one bedroom has a queen bed, 2 reclining reading chairs to relax in if you have children sleeping in the living room area, and a very large walk-in closet. The living room is large with a full size sofa bed and at one end, 2 sets of twin bunk beds. There is also a DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped and everything is brand new, full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, granite counter tops, coffee maker, toaster, and wonderful hardwood maple flooring which leads into the dining room which has a table that will seat 8 when fully extended and a roll top desk. The bathroom is quite large featuring two sinks with corian countertops, ceramic flooring, a separate full shower, a separate toilet room and a 2 person jacuzzi tub for relaxing after a full day of excitement seeing all the sights of the area.
We pay close attention to the quality and condition of our sheets and towels and we, the owners, are on site if you have any questions or problems with anything.
The delightful two tiered deck at the entrance has a charcoal grill and outdoor table and chairs. Our home sits on a 1/2 acre and so there is plenty of room for the children to play outside in the backyard while waiting for the folks to get ready to go! We also have a local park within walking distance which has play equipment, ball parks and an outdoor water park. Parking for the apartment is off-street.
This spring, we will be installing a walkway from the entrance of the apartment, around the front of the house to the parking area. We will also be posting pictures of the exterior in the spring.
This is a no smoking property both inside and outdoors, no exceptions.
