Elegance and ambience are the bywords of this gracious Country
House. Situated 15 minutes north of Galway city overlooking private
lake Hackett with over 100 acres of land and woodland. Lisdonagh
House has an elevated picturesque setting. The house and grounds are
an oasis of tranquillity. An early Georgian house built in 1707 set
in the heart of hunting and fishing country. Many versions of its
colourful history and inhabitants have been written about. Although
it is a historic country house and formally in the Hidden Ireland
Guide, Lisdonagh has been renovated and now offers guest sumptuous
comfort whilst retaining an old world charm. All the bedrooms are
spacious and individually decorated with period furniture and
luxurious bathrooms. The original hall murals by J. Ryan completed
in 1790 depict four virtues and are the last remaining record of the
artists work. The formal wall garden and kitchen gardens are
presently being restored.

Our dining room serves breakfast and dinner to residents only.
Delicious breads are baked in the Aga, the menus are seasonal and
innovative using home grown organic produce and fresh herbs.

The house is situated close to some of Ireland's great golf courses:
Galway Bay, Connemara Golf Club, Rosses Point, Westport and
Ballinrobe.


With commanding views over Lough Hackett (a private Lake which forms
part of the Estate) and legendary Knochma Mountain, the whole house
can be rented exclusively.

Alternatively, guests may choose to enjoy luxurious Country House
Bed and Breakfast Accommodation or to rent one of the estate's Self-
Catering Apartments.

Within close proximity of the famous Ashford Castle and Kylemore
Abbey which both have beautiful historic buildings and extensive
grounds. Shopping trips to Galway or Sligo together with the almost
obligatory visit to Drumcliffe Churchyard, where Ireland's most
famous son, William Butler Yeats is buried.
