vacation rental description
La Fontaine sits in the middle of a perfect walking neighborhood with a multitude of entertainment, retail and services within a three-block radius. In less than five minutes on foot, guests can dine at many fine restaurants, enjoy some of West Hollywood’s hottest clubs including XIV, Fubar and Bar Marmont, work out at Crunch Gym, stock the kitchen at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s, relax at Burke Williams Day Spa, enjoy coffee at several local coffeehouses, visit the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theaters or attend one of several film festivals there, see a show at the Laugh Factory, take yoga at L.A.’s best yoga studio, or handle business at the post office, the pharmacy, major banks, shippers, dry cleaners and more.
Enjoy the owner’s Penthouse in one of L.A.’s most important historic landmark buildings: La Fontaine. Designed by world-renowned architect Leland Bryant, La Fontaine is perhaps the most recognizable building in West Hollywood. Dominating the intersection of Crescent Heights Boulevard and Fountain Avenue, La Fontaine has been the home of many luminaries and celebrities, most recently including Bette Midler, Steve Martin, Dane Cook and Cheryl Crowe.
Available for short-term rental for the first time, the Penthouse at La Fontaine is an unexpectedly contemporary apartment in a stunning vintage building. Reconceived as a modern living space in the late 1960’s, the unit features over 3,000 square feet of clean lines and retro chic. The floor plan features two bedrooms and two full baths (one a master suite with Jacuzzi tub and walk-in closet), a separate dining area surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, and a huge living room featuring more than 1,000 square feet with a working fireplace, a wet bar with beverage refrigerator, and an appetizer bar with built-in heaters, making it an entertainer’s dream. The gourmet galley kitchen includes all stainless appliances: dishwasher, wine cooler, double wall oven, gas cooktop and refrigerator, with a stackable washer/dryer just off the kitchen.
The unit offers rare privacy for a celebrity or any security-minded visitor. The elevator serves only 8 apartments, two on each floor. Includes one covered tandem parking space at the back of the building.
It’s the views that really make the space so special: a dramatic, expansive, knockout panorama stretching from the Hollywood Hills to the Pacific Ocean, visible from windows throughout the apartment. There’s an additional laundry facility on site.
activities and attractions in West Hollywood Los Angeles Area
West Hollywood: Past to Present
There was no indication in 1780 that the simple road built to connect El Pueblo de Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean would one day evolve into the exciting collection of shops, theaters and restaurants that is West Hollywood today. That part of this idyllic, sleepy spot would one day transform itself into the vibrant Sunset Strip was also not immediately apparent, but visitors are eternally grateful that it did. WeHo is the perfect place for a quick getaway to taste the highlife and celebrity culture that epitomizes the district, and all West Hollywood vacation rentals are also within shouting distance of other famous neighborhoods like Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The stunning Southern Californian beaches that grace nearby Malibu, Venice and Santa Monica are also only minutes away.
Worldwide Dining in One City
It is perhaps the commingling of cultures that gives West Hollywood its main claim to fame, and nowhere is this more apparent than when one looks at the city's dining opportunities. Those who are looking for solid American fare should visit Barnie's Beanery - where stars Clark Gable and Judy Garland once dined - but those who are looking for alternative dining better book an extra long stay in their West Hollywood vacation condo to give them enough time to sample all the area has to offer. From sushi bars to Brazilian bistros and from tasty Thai take-out/dine-in options to a myriad of Mexican restaurants, West Hollywood has something to excite even the most jaded of palates.
Scintillating Shopping
Just walking WeHo's pedestrian-friendly streets after getting a good night's rest in an upscale West Hollywood vacation rental will open one's eyes to countless intriguing shopping opportunities that can be found nowhere else in the world. Fred Segal's on Melrose is recommended for clothing, while Plush Home - also on Melrose - is recommended for everything for the household, and their upscale furniture has upstaged the stars in countless films, including Spiderman 3. The nearby Beverly Center shopping mall is one of the largest in the city and plays host to retailers like Hugo Boss, The Ferrari Store and Bloomingdale's.
Nightclubs like No Other
Booking a week or two in one of the trendy and upmarket West Hollywood vacation rentals available in the city will also provide access to the area's famous night-time attractions, which include the infamous Sunset Strip with its Comedy Store stand-up club and its Viper Room, Roxy Theater and Whiskey A Go Go nightclubs. The Troubadour and the House of Blues should also be on every nightclub-lover's list, and these venues continue to feature music greats like Bruce Springsteen, Bette Middler, Bob Marley and David Bowie.
The West Hollywood Heritage
Apart from notorious nightclubs, WeHo is also home to many sites of cultural and historical significance. The former Warner Hollywood Studios on Santa Monica Boulevard - now known as simply "The Lot" - dates back to 1920 and is a popular attraction that offers both studio tours and live show tapings. Culture vultures should take the guided tour of the elegant Schindler House - voted one of the top 10 houses in Los Angeles - and should also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art at the Pacific Design Center. Further interesting sightseeing spots include the Sierra Towers apartment complex, which dates back to 1965 and which has been home to celebrities like Cher and Lindsay Lohan, and the cute Rocky and Bullwinkle statue on Sunset Boulevard.
