Just a short drive to the Smith River National Recreation Area, Redwood National Park and Lake Earl Wildlife Refuge.

Crescent City is half way between San Francisco and Portland, has two historic lighthouses, a commercial airport and harbor.

Summers are moderately cool near the Pacific, but just a few miles inland, summer time temperatures can easily reach the 90s.  Come back to a cool evening after a hot day at the river.  Winters are wet, on rare occasions temperatures drop just below freezing.
