A breathtaking, uniquely designed house nestled in lush gardens and situated on 2 ½ acres of beautiful, nearly deserted beach. Complete privacy and seclusion are guaranteed, so Slipstream is the perfect place to take things easy and unwind.

Slipstream is unique. It’s quirky, cool and completely different from any other beach house in The Bahamas. Looking out across a tranquil bay and shaded by palms, Slipstream makes the most of its stunning location and natural surroundings. Its groundbreaking design blurs the boundary between inside and outside and offers light, airy, open-plan living under a high domed roof. It is ideal for those who prefer laid-back living to a de-luxe lifestyle.

Slipstream is on the shore of a usually deserted bay on the Caribbean side of the island and faces west for spectacular sunsets. The 5-mile-long bay’s sandy tree-lined beach and shallow waters make Slipstream ideal for kids. In the morning or late afternoon, rays can be spotted from the beach as they swim along the sandy sea bottom. Dilda Rocks, at one end of the bay, is a good place for a first snorkel. Or you can take our kayaks out at sunset when the sky turns lilac, pink and mauve and watch the sun dip beneath the golden sea.

The house is designed to capture and circulate the sea breezes and Slipstream is further cooled by fans, not air conditioning units. Its 3 simply furnished buildings are connected by decks and it sleeps 8 people. In the main building there is a basic kitchen, a dining table, a TV loft and a large, fantastically comfortable day bed/lounging area flanked by an expanse of windows overlooking the sea. The ‘wings’ are mirror images of one another. Each has an upstairs bedroom with bathroom facilities and a balcony, and a downstairs bedroom, with a separate bathroom and a dayroom. The combination of a large communal area and private spaces makes Slipstream perfect for a get-together of family or friends.

Slipstream is situated on lovely Long Island, an 80 mile long undiscovered island paradise with a population of only 4,000 people. It is wonderfully sleepy and it retains the character that some other islands in The Bahamas have lost to tourist-related development. The unpretentious eateries, the low-key nightlife and the charming island events are mostly run with locals, not holidaymakers, in mind. There are no noisy nightclubs, hip bars or fancy restaurants but there is an abundance of sublime, often deserted, beaches, coves and cays and world-class places to fish, dive or snorkel.

Long Island is a beachlovers paradise. With minimal tourism on the island you will likely not even see another person on a beach. Whatever scenery you fancy, you will probably find it here, from the white sand picture-postcard beaches around calm bays of the serene turquiose Caribbean Sea, to breathtaking cliffs overlooking the deep blue Atlantic crashing on its dramatic coastline, and giving way to beautiful little protected coves & inlets.

With all this coastline and prisitine waters, an assortment of water activities is right at your fingertips, here you can find world-class scuba diving (shark dives, wall dives, reef dives, shallow dives, blue hole dives), great snorkeling spots (there is some good snorkeling out in the bay in front of the house), enjoy kayaking in the beautiful bay right out front, try first rate bonefishing in the many flats the island has to offer, reef fishing abound (we encourage you "cook what you catch" back at the house) , and deep sea fishing for the big boys like Marlin and Tunas.

Visiting and exploring the island and its communities are a definite must, here you will experience and discover a throwback to the old Caribbean and its never hurried way of life. Friendly people and characters to meet as well as local sites to explore, from one of the largest blue holes in the world, to the local museum with ancient Indian artifacts, to historic plantation ruins.
