vacation rental description

This character English owned, 1950's built pool villa is located in
the quaint little town of Mount Dora, 26 miles from Sanford Orlando
Airport and situated in the rolling hills and lakes of beautiful
Lake County in Central Florida.
The town is characterized as little New England by travel gurus and
is known as the "Antique capital" of Florida. The town's Lake Dora
front setting features an ante-bellum Inn, said to be the oldest in
Florida where you can sit in a rocking chair on the porch watching
the sunset with a cold beer or home-made lemonade, dozens of
shoppes, quaint eateries, and open air pubs, there's even a dogs
bakery there! Many visitors also liken Mount Dora to a cross between
New Orleans and Key West.
A world away from the Blackpool style International Drive or
housing estates of Kissimmee and Clermont. However the theme parks
and attractions are less than an 45 mins away and the beaches less
than
two hours to either coast. This area offers all of the activities
the beautiful state of Florida has to offer, yet comfortably away
from the crowds.
Ten minutes away are shopping malls, movie theaters, numerous
restaurants, grocery stores, golf courses, and a new state-of-the-
art full service medical facility.
The town is twinned with Forres in Scotland and this is evident by
some of the street names like Highland Avenue and there is also the
Scottish themed Highland Cafe which is walking distance of our house.
Situated backing right onto Mount Dora public golf course yet still
retains a degree of privacy around the south-facing 30' x 15' pool
(unheated)and large secluded gardens.
Our spacious home is clean and bright and newly re-decorated and
carpetted.
The master bedroom suite is situated at the opposite end from the
other bedrooms allowing for privacy from your other guests.
All furniture and linens are new and European in style.
However obviously the architectural style reflects the age and charm
of the home.
It has three bedrooms consisting of a master ensuite with sunken
mosaic roman style tub. This room has one King size bed and one day-
bed.
Bed 2 has two twin beds and bed 3 has a queen double with a single
bunk above. There is also a double futon in the Florida room. Beds
two and 3 share a bathroom and the house will comfortably sleep 8
adults and accomodate 10 with the futon. A travel cot is also
available.
There is a large kitchen with dishwasher and eating area , a dryer
and washer in the utility room. And a dining table that seats 10 in
the dining room. The lounge has a vaulted cathedral style ceiling
and a 27" tv and multi-region DVD player.
The home comfortably sleeps 8 and will accomodate 10 plus infant.
The City of Mount Dora was established in 1880 when it was
originally named Royellou, a combination of the children's names of
one of the City's pioneers. Later taking the name of it's famous
lake, and adding the "mount" because it is elevated higher than most
of the Central Florida area, 266 feet above sea level.

activities and attractions in Mount Dora Central Florida

Within a 5 minute stroll are the Jam Inn music pub or Norma Jeans
Cafe for late evening drinks. In the main town two miles away are
ample quaint eateries and Antique shops - a Mecca for Antique
collectors! There are probably more interesting and varied antique
dealers per square foot than any other place in Florida.
The Cultural Calendar knows no season. Throughout the year, Mount
Dora enjoys plays at the IceHouse Theatre, concerts and recitals by
international artists at the Mount Dora Festival of Music &
Literature, gallery openings, and on-going exhibitions at the Mount
Dora Center for the Arts. Directly behind the Center for the Arts
on Royellou Lane is the Royellou Museum at the Old
City Jail, providing a glimpse of Mount Dora life from the past to
the present.

Taking a cruise on the Dora Canal will bring you back in time. A one-
mile stretch of water remains the same as it was more than 100 years
ago. This is definitely an area for those who enjoy nature, lakes,
fishing and golf.

There are boat rentals and Bass tournaments on the lake.
On day trips from the Mount Dora Railway, you can experience the
comfort and heyday of an authentic railroad passenger car, The Mount
Dora Limited. The Mount Dora excursion train makes a round-trip run
from Mount Dora to Travares then back again, offering lovely views
of Lake Dora, tropical foliage and wildlife from it's open window
coaches.
For Golfers there is the adjacent Mount Dora public Golf Course. This
is an old course built in 1947 with mature black oaks, Spanish moss
and much charm. Dramatic changes of elevation make this course
unique in Florida. This could be the best value in the entire
Orlando area! This course has a few hills which is a rarity in
Florida. The fairways are tight, and the greens are well manicured.
The most difficult hole is #18, a par 4, with out-of-bounds stakes
on the right.
