vacation rental description

The Almighty Struggle is A small rustic shingle style cottage, with an oversized deck facing the Union River inlet and the mountains of Acadia National Park in downeast Maine.

Nestled in a clearing on 14 acres of natural woods you can see deer, turkey, porcupine, and maybe even a moose. The 400’ of beach has ledges hosting mussels, crabs, sea urchins, and starfish.

You will enjoy watching the seals, kayaking, swimming, hiking, fishing, and watching the local lobstermen gather their traps.

The cottage is small, clean , and well appointed for couples and small families that want a private outdoor vacation experience.

We are well situated for day trips to Acadia National Park and exploring the villages of the Blue Hill Peninsula.

The Almighty Struggle Cottage

Review submitted: September 13, 2010   Date of arrival: August 22, 2010

Our visit to the Almighty Struggle in Surry was every thing we hoped for & more! It was very relaxing, private. We enjoyed all the comforts of home, but with New England charm. The serenity of the area around the cottage was wonderful: early morning walks down to the beach, coffee & oatmeal with Maine syrup & fresh blueberries on the deck, a fire on the beach at sunset. We had cozy beds with very nice linens and books to snuggle up with. There are many windows to catch the ocean breeze and take in the view. The children did not miss their video games one little bit! We went on several day trips to Acadia National Forest, the Oceanarium and Bar Harbor where we went whale watching and dined on the pier. Mostly every one we met in Maine was very hospitable. We would visit again if the opportunity came along.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway
